We now take you to College Station, TX

Sumlin's teams have gotten steadily worse after inheriting lots of talent. Poor play this year ha s him fired by mid year. Can't be embarrassed off the field and on.

Holy crap ... that's just unbelievable.

Maybe it's a Texass thing?

EDIT: I was actually pleasantly surprised at the TexAgs comments FC posted ... Most were similarly aghast as me. I was expecting a full-blown ****bailer defensive response.

And I always love it when folks say "that's so PC." If treating people, both as individuals and groups, with a minimum of respect is PC ... then sign me up.

Or just avoiding complete degradation of an entire gender? It is unbelievable this happened in today's day and age.

Aggie Logic: if you are on the outside, you can't understand it. If you are on the inside, you can't explain it.

Did the person or people who wrote this look at it and think oh yeah this is going to be great? High fives everybody good job!

I guarantee they thought they were hilarious.

Looks like from people who were there or knew people there that it was an attempt at humor and got taken out of context.

In the era of twitter and other instant communication in little bites you don't get to control context. Even if their intention was completely different doing something like this is just stupid, it's an invitation get destroyed and your damage control efforts just bring more attention to it.

With all that I'm not sure that aTm doesn't still have a good dose of this attitude anyways. Their only defense is that they aren't Baylor.

Oh, no. It was taken completely within context. It's just that the context was misogynistic and unfunny.

Taken out of context? Now that is rich.

I was just taking it from reading a number of the post in the ag forum from people who had gone or had wives there. They made it sound like it was intentional in the form of a humorous approach.

They may be (probably are) trying to find a way to minimize the damage and put it in a better light but until I know for sure I'm willing to give at least some benefit of a doubt.

Doesn't matter though because as I stated even if it was done in a different context than it appears it was a very stupid idea and entirely inappropriate. Somebody in a leadership position should have recognized that the idea was a fail and killed it. If something demands a certain context to not be offensive then you better be sure you can control the context. In this case they had no control over the message that got out and I'm not certain that it could have been done without offending even if they had control.

There are certain stereotype images that are simply to loaded to use in this day and age if you don't want to end up embarrassing yourself. This used a couple of those with both the woman as dumb homemaker image and the woman as sexual object images.

Somebody is going to get fired over this but the concern should be with those above who won't get fired that approved it and that should have been on top of it.

The point is that aTm supporters may try to portray this as an attack on their school based on context but in any context it is still wrong.

This is Texas. If he wins enough games they give him a raise and an extension.

No, this is Allbuffs ;)

Problem is he doesn't win games. And to further complicate things they're in one division with Alabama, which means that anything but multiple national titles is unacceptable to some.

And you hit the issue that matters to the boosters in Texas. Win and they will put up with just about anything. Look at the people at Baylor who think that Briles should still be the coach there. Compared to covering up rape this incident is fairly minor.

On the other hand don't win games and it doesn't matter how good or bad you are. Sumlin is likely to get fired and if his team continues the downward trend it will be sooner than later. My point is that it won't have anything to do with this incident, it will be based on what happens on the field.

The women's football clinic has to have some thought put into it so nobody is offended. CU had something that was deemed semi controversial last year with their women's clinic, right? Can't remember what it was but I remember there were a few that made a stink about it.

To me, the best idea for these is to pretend you're teaching the game to the average high school player. It's basic enough for everyone to understand, but you don't run the risk of coming off patronizing either.

1 or 2 slides as jokes ok. 8 to 10 slides offensive and stupid.
I'm not sure even 1 to 2 slides of that nature is ok in this setting. It's not a comedy show, and wasn't marketed as one. It's supposed to be an event for women interested in learning more about the game, not some mouth breathing mysogynists talking about a women's place in the kitchen, or using 15 different sexual innuendoes to explain blocking technique.
