You know those times that I said I would be fine if KU were to join us in the PAC?

F' them.

'Jane Doe 7' outs herself

Also, **** Baylor - BU is definitely worse, but at this point it's a difference in magnitude, not a difference in type.

There is so much "he said, she said" to all of these incidences, by the perpetrators/victims as well as the schools/students. The part of the story that had me shaking my head in disgust is that KU is leading with lawyers as evidenced by the press release from the school.

A KU spokeswoman, Erinn Barcomb-Peterson, issued the following statement to The Post:

“The University of Kansas takes very seriously any and all claims of sexual assault and sexual violence. To protect the rights of all students involved, federal law prohibits the university from releasing details on individual sexual assault investigations. The university thoroughly investigated Ms. McClure’s allegations, and as a result, the accused student is no longer enrolled at KU. We are confident the courts will agree that we’ve met our obligations to both Ms. McClure and Ms. Tackett.”

As long as the school is putting out official statements claiming "we've met our obligations to..." it is clear they are first and foremost worried about covering their legal butts and not in maximizing the support of their students.

"It's a he said, she said situation" is a bull**** excuse.

A huge portion of all crime comes down to one person's word against another's. The authorities still investigate and prosecute.

For no other felony crime do police immediately give up when it appears that there's a possibility it will come down to conflicting statements. They investigate. They gather, and analyze physical evidence (the failure to use and timely process rape kits is a huge miscarriage of justice), interview witnesses and suspects, and generally, you know, do their ****ing jobs and investigate crime.

Except when it's rape.

Then it's ok to give up without really trying.

I think a lot of programs are nervous right now for good reason. And CU was no better until **** Hit the fan over a decade ago. I'm confident we've been handling these things differently than many, if not most, since.

Any evidence to support that confidence? Maybe the Holland arrest is evidence.

If CU would have had competent legal advice back in the day, the whole Cluster F at CU might have been better handled.

HA! Better to have had a competent AD!

AD Dick Tharp, was an attorney. He should have known much better than what he displayed. But that would have meant that he was actually in Boulder, not off watching his kids play collegiate sports or in Mexico working on his tan!

Obviously Tharp could have handled things better, but what these scandals show is that someone outside the AD needs to be providing the oversight. Expecting the athletic director to be leading the oversight and/or doling out punishments is the wrong approach.

Is there any way the paperwork could get mixed up and we could have any consequences from this punish their basketball team instead?

That would not be very...
