We should be trying to add a (quality) transfer every year

Boyle has done a good job recruiting but even prospects that look great 'on paper' can turn out to be busts. Unlike HS players, a transfer is much more of a proven commodity plus, in theory, they will also be able to make more of an immediate impact and provide additional leadership/maturity. The positives outweigh the fact that they have to sit out one season and sacrificing a scholarship for a year is insignificant; it's not like we're going to use a 13 player rotation. It's also always possible to find a player who's eligible to play right away.

Boyle has said he will look to take one of these guys every year if he's got an opening.

JRK loves restating things that have already been said and that Boyle is already doing.

He gets kudos for bringing in Carlon Brown, but despite that working out extremely well the next year he thought we would be better of with the likes of Talton and Stalzer rather then a adding a transfer, he didn't leave room for any transfers for next year, and at least thus far we haven't been linked to any for 2014. And Sabatino Chen and his 2ppg at DU does not qualify as a quality transfer, far from it. Much like his (stated) offensive system/style of play, Tad's actions do not always back up his words.

You are kind of a moron.

1. Just because Tad has the goal of bringing in a high quality impact transfer every year, doesn't mean it will happen. We heavily pursued a few transfers, but lost out on them (remember the guy who went to Maryland?).
2. There was a roster spot for a high quality transfer last year. Remember, chen's scholarship was conditional. The presence of Talton/Stalzer had no impact on any potential transfer.
3. There was a transfer last year. He just wasn't eligible yet. Nor is he the quality you would wish.
4. That's the problem with transfers. Although the list is growing, the number of high quality transfers who are eligible to play right away is extremely limited.
5. Conclusion: Boyle is doing exactly what your thread title asks for. He just isn't always successful. **** happens.
6. You Ignant.

How about we don't question Tad. That is all.

Until he brings us an undefeated season and a national championship, Tad can, and should be questioned. It's our responsibility has fans.

He's done a great job so far of turning around the program but a blemish of any kind on our record means that he can do better. You play to win the game! Nothing wrong with setting the bar high.

Nothing wrong with setting the bar at an undefeated season and National Championship? Okay

Colorado basketball should not be competing for national championships. We should be competing for 9th or 10th place in the PAC-12. We have the worst history in the PAC-12 and compete for the worst in the BCS conferences. We will hopefully become the KSjU of basketball. Don't get me wrong I hate KSjU, but I do respect what bill Snyder has done. It was a remarkable job. One of the best I have ever seen. Kansas state was the worst football program in history until Snyder. If it weren't for Boyle we would be where we belong, the bottom of the standings, hoping for an NIT bid . Nobody deserves to be challenged or negatively judged if they are in tads position. He built this program.

And let me make this clear I am happy and content with 3rd place finishes with an occasional conference championship. I don't expect a top-4 seed for the tourney. And neither should you. If you expect us to compete for National titles every year, then you are a complete moron. You should be grateful for every win over 20 for a year.
With time, if tad keeps progressing as a game day coach and we win 25+ games a year, your expectations can rise but not now.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

Realistically I don't expect to be competing a for a national championship every year, but if we're not then that gives me the right to be critical, that's all i'm saying.

Winning regular season conference titles or advancing to the Sweet 16 are interesting standards.

How about we live in the real world and understand that it's all relative.

If all you do is meet that standard at Kentucky, you get fired. At CU, it's a level our program has never reached. Considering what the CU job was when Tad inherited it, 3 20-win seasons, an NIT Final Four (robbed of NCAA bid), a conference tourney title, 2 straight trips to the Dance, and nationally ranked recruiting classes... that's like reaching 3 straight Final Fours at Kentucky with at least 1 national title.

The CU standard has changed thanks to Tad, but it's complete bull**** to diminish Tad's accomplishments. Let's not be the stupid ass fans that make a great HC an under-appreciated victim of his own success.

I wish we could replace JRK with a transfer poster

You and me both, brotha. Some additional free time would be nice but I take my role on here seriously. I am the educator of the ignorant and the enlightener of the masses.

JRK,

In this and other threads, you're reminding me of that Indiana student who got in Bobby Knight's face on campus to try to provoke an incident and become part of the story of getting him fired. Being "that guy" is no way to go through life, son.

Not sure what you mean, I'm not old enough to remember that. Regardless I love Tad and certainly want him to be CU's coach for years to come. The original post was not even meant to be critical, just stating my opinion of one way to improve the program.

Hi

Josh Davis is transfering out of Tulane and available immediately (has already graduated). Averaged over 17ppg and more than 10 rbs last year (big #'s against Memphis and Alabama). A lot of high major interest coming his way. Josh could be a contingency plan if the disappointing and unexpected were to hit us!

I just want all our guys back next year. PLEASE! :)

VM :)

Today I learned that, as a sports fan, I have rights and responsibilities. For instance, if a team doesn't win a national/world championship, I am required by fan law to yell at them incoherently.
