Weather concerns on late season games

Not Sure

Sets low bar, barely exceeds it.

I have odd ideas from time to time, and here’s one that popped into my head a couple days ago: if we aren’t allowing fans in the stands, what’s to keep us from playing the games in the IPF if the weather gets nasty?

Probably first and foremost the TV aspect with all the cameras and angles needed. Secondly, probably the lack of "sideline space" for both teams, staff, support personnel, equipment, etc. How do they get to their respective lockerrooms easily, particularly the visitors? Is everything inside regulation size?

IIRC, one of the sidelines is really close to a solid wall. Not sure if player safety might be a factor.

I think it would be kind of fun watching a blizzard game where I didn't even have a choice on if I should have gone to the game or not.

Good points. The safety issue is probably the biggest concern. While the field is regulation size, the area around it isn’t. Although IIRC there is a five lane track that encircles the playing field so it might not be as bad as we think.

Considering how narrow the sidelines are in Folsom I doubt the IPF is much if any smaller or more dangerous. I am sure that the distance from the field to the locker rooms isn't any greater than it is in multiple stadiums around the country as well, that would be managable.

TSchek is probably correct about TV angles although that could be easily overcome with advanced planning using lenses and mounting multiple cameras on the walls and ceilings. A bigger issue though may be having enough room for press and various non-field officials, etc.

What would kill the idea though is lack of height in the facility. There is no room in there to punt and even some kick-offs might get close to hitting the top.

Another issue as well would be the contracts for in-stadium advertising.

The TV broadcast. The one thing it's all about.

No chance you can get the cameras installed there and even if you could the effort wouldn't be worth it.
