Week 2 Polls and Rankings

No respect. I love seeing Tennessee ranked at the beginning of every year then suck pole the whole season. Notre dame and USF? Lol, the G5's must be loaded this year. O well we'll show em what we can do when it counts

Where we're at right now means very little.

I don't know what schools 20 - 30 are doing the next 2 weeks, but we certainly shouldn't drop, and have a chance to move up I would imagine.

Only thing it does at the moment is raise the chances of Gameday coming to Boulder.

I guess what I was getting at is that should be affected more by week 3 or 4 rankings, not week 2, don't you think?

I also think we might have an edge even if we're 3-0 but sitting at 26 or 27, due to the CCG rematch angle.

I was curious to track who was doing what between #15-30 (today's AP Poll) for anyone interested.

I think Miami, Louisville, (edit - add Notre Dame), South Florida, and either Florida or Tennessee all lose a game. I just don't think Miami and Louisville lose badly enough to drop behind us. That leaves "style points" over the next two weeks determining if CU gets in based on dominating wins vs. (possibly) iffy wins by a few others.

Georgia should knock ND out of the way.
TCU at Ark isn't a gimme
Utah at BYU isn't a gimme
WSU vs BSU isn't a gimme

I'm fine with lots of Pac-12 teams ranked. Makes it so that conference teams can lose without falling as we get into the schedule.

Also, week 3 is going to see the Florida-Tennessee loser out of the ranks.

And don't be surprised if Louisville loses the next 2 games.

CU is about right where they should be right now imho. I too don't get Blowhio St getting a first place vote.

Will they ever wait until teams have played 3 games before starting a poll.
They do. AP & Coaches are just for fun. CFP, the one that matters, won't release its first poll until October 31st. We'll be 9 games into the season by then, though, so we may as well dick around talking about these until then.

Things seem to be setting up for the OU OSU game to be for a spot in the CFP. But LOTS of football left.

Missed the ND game with my write up, but agree with you on the others.

We need one team to either look really bad winning or one of those other 3 (TCU, Utah, or WSU) to lose a game they shouldn't.

Apparently Joel thinks really, really highly of IU as a dark horse in with Big 10 East this year. I thought OSU looked bad on offense and iffy on pass defense. Not sure if anyone else can pull off what Lagow did to OSU's defense, though - that guy was money.

I hope folks don't think CU should be ranked, not after that performance and beating a mwc school.

Vols have won 9 three years in a row.

Taggert left a 10 win club at USF. Could be favored in every game.

Looks like we were as high as 19.

Thing is, if I was an AP voter my preseason rank would be the final AP rank from the previous season. I'd then move teams based on what they did each week. So I guess I'd have the Buffs around #17.

we aren't going to get any early help from the sheep on our ranking-- bama will put 9 scores on them in a couple weeks. but, i think we'll be barely in the top 25 by the time top 10 uw arrives.

that gives us some room to work up.

GO BUFFS!
