We're #26 in AP and coaches polls

I'm a SEC hater but I'm livid we're behind LSU. Because they beat 2-4 Missouri and C-USA southern miss? Gtfo. They were in the top 10 and lost to an unranked team in Wisconsin (I get they're good now), lost to unranked auburn! But oooo they beat Jacksonville state and Mississippi state!

The bias is insane in the polls for SEC teams. CU lost 2 games, both on the road. One to #4 Michigan and a prior ranked top 10 USC team that has now won 3 straight and has momentum. At least Washington is representing, good for them.

And don't get me started on Western ****ing Michigan.

And Florida, didn't even see that at first...apparently beating vandy by 7, not playing and beating 2-4 Missouri is +8 in the polls. But losing to 4-3 USC who lost to #1, #7 and #24 and beating 5-2 ASU by 24 is worse than what Florida did lol.

Sorry but I'm not impressed with Utah that much. WSU, that will be tough.

Agreed. They barely made it past OSU. WSU hasn't gotten any love at all anywhere. I don't know about the eastern Washington loss. But they barely lost to a severely over ranked Boise team but they beat Stanford, Oregon and UCLA and that's not easy.

Western Michigan is good this year. I don't know if they have the schedule to rise much higher, though.
They may be good, but they've beaten a 3-3 Northwestern, 2-4 Illinois and their last 7 games are:
  • Northern Illinois (1-6)
  • Akron (4-3)
  • Eastern Michigan (5-2 but lost 61-21 to Mizzou)
  • Ball State (4-3)
  • Kent State (2-5)
  • Buffalo (1-5)
  • Toledo (5-1 and will be a legit test)

Kind of happy about this. I didn't want a "target" ranking on our backs going on the road against Furd. Just have a quiet week of two unranked teams playing each other and then smoke Stanford and have 3 of the final 4 games at home.

I feel the same way, can't get too carried away. We're talking about a team we were all hoping could MAYBE win 6 games and make a bowl game. We've been at #21, we're 5-2 with 5 more games to play, 3 are at home and Arizona is atrocious and dealing with injuries. If CU can win 6, im happy. 7-8 and I'm ecstatic and wondering what could have been with USC and Michigan. 9 or more? That's bat **** crazy.

Would like to be ranked higher especially after beating a ranked team. But ASU was exposed by the BUFFS as over-rated

Agree with Buffuped whip the furd then a bye week and then demolish ucla in Thursday and all the wrongs will be righted

3 home games gotta win em all
Bowl bound now which bowl will it be

Hey there old man ... don be dissing my undergrad alma mater. It might help you to know that we were without our starting QB for that Mizzou game (suspension for "team rules violation"). Since then the only game EMU has lost was a close one to Toledo, which you admit is a good team.

And Western is a legitimately good team. Remember who beat Okie Lite in their house? (yes... it was on a play that probably shouldn't have even taken place, but so what) ... that was Central Michigan. And Western absolutely smoked them 49-10 at their house. We may see just how good they are next week, when a relatively good EMU squad (as measured against the exercises in futility of the past several years) travels to Kalamazoo to take on the Broncos. GO HURONS!!!

I'm absolutely ecstatic ... both of my alma maters, who have been mired in mediocrity to outright sucktitude for more than a decade, are finally both on track to get winning records and bowl eligibility. Funny how things work sometimes.

Being happy with 6 wins is selling this team short based on what they've been through 7 games.

I agree. But the goal all along was get to 6 and a bowl. Anything past 6 I can't be anything but absolutely ecstatic about. Basically I'm just enjoying the ride at this point. This is beyond all expectations

Boise State? Who have they beat? Nebraska? Who have they beat?

It is all just a popularity contest by the press who watch few of the games and don't really understand college football. For the CP you have coaches who don't have time to watch the games and who have vested interests to vote for certain teams. That is why I am glad that the college play-off is selected by a committee.

Feels like we're all waiting for that 6th win first before looking ahead which is probably the correct attitude.

I'm ok with not being ranked this week. Keep winning and that will take care of itself.

So, they are a bunch of no good thugs?

So, they are a bunch of no good thugs?

Exactly! Wait ... whut?!? o_O

Was probably alcohol or MJ related ... but of course because of FERPA we don't know. But then again, EMU did have a former player who turned out to be a serial rapist and a university president who actively labored to cover up the fact that the local murder of a student had actually occurred on campus rather than off, in order to fudge the stats for Clery Act reporting. Good times.

Hey VK, doesn't all of this success that you speak of by the "BUFFS" above necessitate that you acknowledge Mike MacIntyre and Brian Lindgren as outstanding coaches? Or is it all Leavitt and the defense plus a little bit Chiv? Is this turnaround known as "The Rise" just a fluke by the Head Coach Mike MacIntyre?

The offense was prolific last night. Lindgren's running game that you always always criticize tore the **** outta a touted defensive front 7. Just may be that the players are learning to execute a whole lot better.

Who cares what any troll thinks, whether it's VK or any of the others I've had on ignore forever. Don't waste your time on such nonsense, life is too short.

AP is what I follow generally, so I'll base this on AP for now.

Thus far, not a ton has broken our way, but more than enough to get us into the top 25. And by virtue of beating a Stanford team on the road, we should leapfrog a couple others if voters pay any attention to what goes on in the West whatsoever

We were #26 this week before the win at Stanford (#32)

Still to come: #25 LSU vs #23 Ole Miss and #29 Wazzu at #35 Arizona State

#27 Miami got drubbed at #30 VT, 37-16

#28 Okie State took care of lowly Kansas, 44-20

#31 South Florida fell to Temple, 46-30

#17 Arkansas is getting KILLED by #21 Auburn, 49-3 as I write this

#22 North Carolina took care of business at struggling Virginia, 35-14

#16 Oklahoma leads Texas Tech 13-7 early

#11 Houston trails SMU 28-7 at half and is due for a big drop if this result holds.

#19 Utah held off UCLA 52-45

#24 Navy beat Memphis, 42-28

#20 Western Michigan topped Eastern Michigan, 45-31

I left a few receiving votes out, like Iowa, that are well behind us and lost and have no chance of jumping us.

We really should leapfrog teams like Navy, but that remains to be seen.

The good news is that we have a bye next week, and more teams will lose. Even if they somehow keep us out tomorrow the odds of us being ranked against UCLA are very high.
