What are your Top 5 all-time CU wins?

I'd say that you have to put the national championship on top since that's what you ultimately play for. After that, it would have to be a rivalry game, conference title or iconic CU sports memory.

1. 10-9 over #1 Notre Dame in the 1991 Orange Bowl for the hardware.

2. 62-36 over then #1 Nebraska in 2001.

3. 27-26 over #4 Michigan in 1994 on the "Miracle at Michigan".

4. 27-21 over #3 Nebraska in 1989 to jump to #1 in the ranks and secure the Big 8 crown, undefeated season and trip to the national championship game (though there was a little business to take care of the next 2 weeks in games the Buffs were heavy favorites).

5. 20-10 over #3 Nebraska in 1986 to break a losing streak to the Nubs going back to 1960 on the immortal "OC Oliver to Lance Carl" option pass.

Think you nailed it. I may have 62-36 like 4 or 5 though. The other Nebraska games are more significant in my mind.
 
I think there's going to be a lot of agreeing in this thread, so I'm gonna just go with the top 5 I can remember.

1. 2001 Nebraska
2. 2001 Big XII Championship Game
3. 2007 Oklahoma
4. 2008 West Virginia
5. 2002 Nebraska in Lincoln

Don't remember 86 or 89, way too young. But when I think of signature wins I never forget 62-36, Michigan and the big 12 championship. I'd put 62-36 #1 because I despise the corn****ers and I've never had so much fun in my life.
 
It's so tough to limit it to just 5. @Buffnik's 5 are hard to beat, but here are three others worthy of consideration.
At Nebraska in '90 - EB overcoming the fumbles for the 4th quarter beatdown.
At Washington in '89 - The game after Sal Aunese passed away. No Buffs fan who is old enough will ever forget the emotion of that game.
At Texas in '94 - Salaam had 362 yards of total offense. Without that game he doesn't break the 2,000 yard barrier and maybe the east coast bias wins out and Ki-Jana Carter robs him of the Heisman.
 
1. 1989 Nebraska (cuz I was there...awesome experience)
2. 1991 Orange Bowl (cuz we won the NC)
3. 2001 Nebraska (cuz we destroyed their program with that game)
4. 1994 Michigan (cuz it is one of the best plays in CFB, if not all sports)
5. 1990 Missouri (cuz it is one of the most famous/infamous games in all CFB and **** Mizzou and the skating rink they pretended was a football field)

I would've put 2001 Texas, but getting shafted for the NC game puts a damper on that one for me a little bit.
 
The only other one I will add in was in 1995, Texas A&M came to Boulder ranked 3rd in the country and a Heisman candidate running back by the name of Leeland McElroy. Hannibal Navies drilled that ****er on a punt return in the first half, knocking him out of the game and effectively killing his Heisman campaign.

Buffs went on to win 29-21

I would agree with BuffNik's list, but that game was very memorable. I believe that was the same year as the Sooner's asterisk game - that was a great one, too.

4. 2001 Big12 Championship over Texas cause I was there. Got harassed as hell on the way in. Stood in the Concourse smoking a giant ass cigar afterward.

5. 2007 over Oklahoma. It amounted to nothing for the program but my entire family went to OU. I bought several members tickets and they came into town for the game. Most were polite but a few spent a lot of time in the lead up explaining how badly this was going to go for me. I made my father drive us home which was for the best because I got drunk and yelled at them all the whole time we were in the car.

man...that last one makes my family sound dysfunctional...
 
Iv'e limited my list to games only when I was student and alum....

1. 62-36 over #1 Nebraska, 2001, because I had a lot of pent up hate at this point.
2. 27-26 over Michigan, 1994 because I was there.
3. 27-24 over Oklahoma, 2007 because it was a great win after a tough 2 win '06 season
4. 41-24 over Notre Dame in Fiesta Bowl, 1994 season. Because I enjoyed beating Notre Dame and watching McCartney go out on top.
5. 10-9 over 1 Notre Dame in the 1991 Orange Bowl for the hardware. Planted the seeds for me to apply to CU.

5. 1995 (94 Season) Fiesta Bowl - we should have had a way better bowl, ND trotted out in the green jerseys for only like the 3rd time ever, and we laid waste to them

Games I actually saw in person:
1. 1994 Wisconsin - the defending Rose bowl champions, we beat the crap out of them 55-17 to get ball rolling on what could be arguably one of the best seasons ever
2. 1993 Miami - we lost, I was working security (ROTC) and told to take off my yellow security polo and get the hell out of the way, but the brawl was epic
3. 1994 Iowa State - Salaam goes over 2000 yards, I was working security (ROTC) and told to take off my yellow security polo and get the hell out of the way, rushing the field and carrying the goal post up to the top of the stadium and almost throwing it over the side was epic.
 
You guys are making me sad...I remember some of these moments from TV as a kid but not all. By the time I attended CU we were on the decline. I got the end of Barnett and ****ING Hawkins! Ugh! You guys are lucky.
 
The 1990 win over the great Washington team that came to Boulder ranked #1 is one of mine. Iirc Deon Figures intercepted Mark Brunell in the endzone to seal the deal.

That's awesome. I was holding on to that goal post when the announcer came on the PA and said that we should please think this through, there were a lot of people outside that could be injured. We all looked at each other, couldn't disagree that this was probably a bad idea, put it down quite reasonably and went outside to drink. Fun day
 
Looking at this list makes me a little bummed that I haven't been alive or was just born for 60% of most people's lists. For what it's worth, my dad graduated in 87', so his last year was the 86' Nebraska game. This is my last year and things seem to be looking quite similar. Looking forward to that natty in the next four years.

2. NC vs ND - program relevance
3. 96 Holiday Bowl vs. Washington - this was my first, real sense of CU football - my freshman year
4. 2001 BIG12 championship - again, program relevance
5. 2004 @ Nubs - again, a game I was lucky enough to go to, and beating them in their house was GREAT!

I didn't list anything before my freshman year except the NC as I admittedly wasn't a CU (or college fb) fan prior. Blame growing up in Pueblo for that.

You still have a chance to see more CU glory in your lifetime than us old-timers if this rise is real and sustained.
 
For all you pups out there, this one was the absolute loudest I ever heard in Folsom:
Oklahoma 14, Colorado 20
October 21, 1972 | at Boulder | Attendance 52,022
Oklahoma (4-0), ranked #2 in the polls behind Southern California for the fourth straight week, traveled to Boulder for a nationally televised game. Chuck Fairbanks' Sooners had been impressive in each of their first four games, outscoring their opponents 196-6 and averaging 435 yards a game rushing with the wishbone. Buffs were ranked No. 9 and 4-1.

Gary Campbell was awesome that game and the stadium was full to overflowing an hour and a half BEFORE the kickoff. Having attended games since 1964, none were ever louder from pre-game to finish, than this one. Couldn't hear for five days after, literally!
 
'95 OU "Astrrisk Game" was pretty sweet. But nik's list is hard to argue with.

The 1989 Illinois game where the Buffs pummeled the whiny bitch Jeff George into quitting was the most fun I've ever had at a game.
 
You kids are forgetting that we won the 1971 Bluebonnet Bowl (over #15 Houston) to finish 3rd in the country. Not bad and for my money, better than a regular season win. Although we lost to #1 NU and #2 OU, we also beat top 10 LSU and Ohio St teams that year. All 5 of these games were away games, btw.

That was great and I'd add:
1970: CU 41 - Penn state 13. They were #4, national televison ABC - a big deal pre-cable/computer, people could only see a few games per weekend. Made the cover of SI, got the attention of the east coast. Buffs kicked ass.

Whatever the game was, that the team pointed up at Sal in the pressbox.

The OK game where Schnellenberger said he didn't want an asterisk next to the win, and Hessler tore them up
 
Not a Top 5 but probably a Top 10 for sure when you put them together:

2004 - opening week stoning Markeesha at the 1 as time expired to beat CSU. Then, McChesney winning a scrum for the ball on the 2 yard line in the final minute to beat Washington State. Those two weeks probably took 10 years off my life. Totally worth it. (y)
 
I have a Nebraska list and a non-Nebraska list. Let's get the corn heifers out of the way first:

Then it's a toss-up of '02, '04, '07 so I ask myself "Which year was the coach-killer?" 2007 saw Dan Hawkins end Bill Callahan's college coaching career en route to getting the Buffs bowl eligible while ruining Nebraska's bid. 2007 it is.

Then my favorite 5 for all the others, chronologically:

The Holiday Bowl, I think it was, 1969 against alabama. Lots of "n" words, Blacks unable to use same facilities, Satisfying to beat those people
