What Utah fans have been up to this off-season

Operation Millie

I thought I'd post this here so you can see what Ute fans have been up to. Cool stuff.

Millie is a 4 year old Ute fan with Leukemia. Utefans.net decided to rally around her young and cash-strapped family and help them pay some of Millie's massive and mounting chemo bills. If you visit utefans.net you will see at the top of the page that, at the time of this post, $10,850 has been raised in less than two days! Am I here to brag about the legendary generosity of Utah fans? Maybe a little. Mostly I'm posting this here because I know cancer has touched the lives of so many and it is truly tragic when Leukemia tries to take a 4 year old from her family. Those of you with small children can imagine how hard this situation would be. I've lost family to cancer and was touched by Millie's story on a personal level. If you have the means, please join with Ute fans before we start hating each other this coming Thanksgiving and donate to a fantastic cause. If you are unable to donate, feel free to read Millie's story and admire her courage.

You can read Millie's story and donate here (this website was set up for Millie by the mods at utefans.net):

You can see donation totals and read posts about the fundraiser at utefans.net (The site has an awesome format for registered and logged in users and an eye-bleedingly bad format for those not registered and logged in. I suggest registering and talking a little trash sometime.):

FYI - The fundraiser was thought of, organized, and is being ran entirely by the owners and administration of utefans.net. It is absolutely legit and a fantastic cause. This isn't their first rodeo. In 2008 they raised $2240 to send a young Ute recovering from a liver transplant to Disneyland. In 2006 they raised $5836 to help a Ute breast cancer survivor pay her medical bills. In 2009 they raised $2213 for a project called utefans-4-Santa to buy Christmas presents for children in need.

Somehow I can't believe this isn't a huskerpedia initiative.

That said, cool story bro. Best wishes to the effort.

Mother****er. My standard welcome-to-the-board response is probably not appropriate here.

Those Ute fans seem like genuinely charitable, good people, salt-of-the earth . . . do they still **** sheep?

And we're supposed to hate these guys?

What has this world come to when we can't hate the teams in our own conference? What, I say!

Best of luck SanDiegoUte - It sounds like you guys are really doing something special.

I welcome fans like that. I also understand not all of thier fans will be like that. And I would love for us to maybe consider something like this in the future.

Well done Utefans. Bonus points for charity work, style deduction for using the "this isn't their first rodeo" Hawkism.

I wanted to thank allbuffs for your support and kind words. To those that were able to donate, your generosity is extremely appreciated by Millie's family and the utefans community. Thank you!

It has come to my attention that some people are still having formatting issues on utefans.net even after registering and logging in to the site. Here is a screen shot of how the site should look once logged in (large file, so smartphone users probably shouldn't click):

The only thing you shouldn't see is the thumbs up and thumbs down icons next to each post. If it still doesn't look like this after logging in, click 'settings' on the top right of the page under 'members'. Once in the settings there is a section towards the bottom titled 'message board settings'. In that section there is an option titled 'message index detail' that should be set to 'bodies of all messages'. Also check the box next to 'message digest format'. Save the changes and go back to page one. Those two settings should cause the page to appear like the screenshot above.

The owner and operator of utefans.net is a web page designer and webmaster by trade. He could easily reformat the website any way he'd like, but people love the layout. I've used every message board format under the sun and I think this layout is great for a site like utefans. I just wish the owner would set the site to be formatted the way shown in the screenshot by default, even for unregistered guests. I'll message him about it.

I hope to see more buffs on the site as the season gets closer, talking trash and PAC-12 football in general. We are used to dealing with the worst fan base in America, so even threats and taunting would be an upgrade for us. You can't imagine how horrible it is to deal with the madrasah in Provostan and its wahhabis. Honestly, **** the money. The best part of the PAC-12 is being involved with 10 legitimate major universities and Washington State. Utah fans are excited just to belong somewhere worthwhile and leave the kitty cats to the south behind. September can't come soon enough.

Wait, I thought that we were the worst fan base.

Nebraska fans aren't right about anything I guess.

We've dealt with a pretty nasty rivalry in the past ourselves. Glad to see we can have some form of comradery, unlike the past

It will be disappointing if 100% of ute fans are not just like that.

Fight the good fight, Millie!

When is UteFans going to upgrade their format to something more readable?

Would Millie and family like an AllBuffs T-Shirt?

That formatting sucks. Can we allocate a few Millie-bucks to web design?
