What would it take to get Mike Leach?

Calm your tits, I’m just mostly drunk and spitballing and wondering logistics, not saying I believe there’s even a 1% chance. I just remember he was looking around a year or two ago, and also 100% know WSU is one of those few P5 schools we’re on significantly better financial footing than.

So what’s his current deal/ buyout? What’s the salary allotment for his staff? Etc.

aargh. he is one of the best in the business. he's also a terrible fit for CU. fat little girlfriends and all the rest. the palouse is a perfect environment for him. he'll out-coach a lot of opponents and when the stars align, he'll have a great team. dude marches to his own drummer but he is a special talent.

I imagine MM is sitting at home watching this game, crying, saying out loud

Leach gives no ****s. He aint running out the clock even up 55-14 at half

he's trying to make a point, too, to the committee, to recruits, and to other programs. the man is at his absolute best when has a chip on his shoulder.

No, they’ve got Khalil Tate, who’s phenomenal. So the only response is to lose. I don’t get why Wazzu doesn’t get this concept/excuse.

It would take a lot more than what cu has to offer.

Come on man. You gotta be optimistic right now.

Be creative. Build him his own pirate ship right on Boulder Reservoir. Give him working cannons and ****. Build other ships that he can chase down and sink. Give him his salary in gold doubloons.

We can work it out, we just can't be defeatist like that.

He's a HC at a non G5 school, he's out of the running.

Actually, his buyout is not that much: $1.8 million after this season.

Last year they extended it and he is scheduled to make $3.75 million in 2019 and $4 mil per year after that thru 2022. Promises of a new football complex (completed), stadium renovations (premium seating) and an indoor practice facility (still in development/fundraising) is what kept Leach there but the AD is strapped and in serious debt to the university already.
WSU gambled with the stadium renovation and football operations, spending $120 million without the philanthropic support needed to comfortably service the debt. As a result, the athletic department is facing an $85 million long-haul deficit.

Thanks for looking this stuff up.

I think that Leach should get some serious consideration to replace Mac. He is about at the limit of what he can do in Pullman. You have to figure that Moos bailing to Nebraska has changed things as well. Whether or not there is interest or George could pull it off remains to be seen but you have to at least ask.

If we’re actually considering Holgerson, I have to think that Leach would be easier to get.
