If they were actually serious about football like they are saying they are they should just announce it now. They should state that the upgrades have nothing to do with the new hire but rather to further our objectives in athletics.I hope they announce that there will be an anouncement at the announcement of the hire
Announcement of details is slated for middle of basketball season. Goal is to break ground in 2014 but it will be a long project as it is a major facilities upgrade that comes with all the building crap, etc that Boulder throws at everyone. They are far down the road both planning and dollar wise but still have work to do. The total is around 260M and will be done in stages but will be completed over the next 5-6 years if things continue to progress nicely. There is major financial support from donors that has taken this AD several years to build. The major backers of the program understand why we are where we are and what it will take it to change. They understand the lack of financial support form the average alumni and fan and have stepped up in a big way. I think this hire is a good hire and will help continue the momentum though the large backers at every program tend to take the long view on things like facilities and understand that they are critical and a separate issue from how one particular coach does. The school has done a great job with these guys. Now we need the average fan to step up if we are going to keep going. They tend to be like most fans and wax and wane in their support when their team is winning and popular so hopefully MacIntyre brings us some wins so we can get the firewather donors back. I think he will and I think in 5-6 years we will see a very different athletic complex and reputation. Its a good day to be a buff.
Assuming you are connected enough to have this as solid info, it is great to hear!

I can almost guarantee that the donors on this project are going to find some/or already have some leverage on this situation and we will see shovels hit the dirt next year
Yeah. If the CD's are ready and permits in place, they would go through a 2 to 3 month contrats/bid period and could have a notice to proceed fairly soon. Maybe early summer.I think the drawings and specs are done, or at least very close to being done. I thought they had already started doing the site studies and environmental impact surveys. It shouldn't take until 2014
