When Should RG Extend Prime's Contract ?

Yes...I know that he hasn't coached a game yet but this should be something that RG HAS to be thinking about sooner than later.
IF CU wins 6+ games this fall and the names of 4 and 5 star players continues to trend towards CU when should an extension and increase in pay
take place ?

Season tickets will be sold out, merch sales are through the roof and CU is the talk of college football. Prime is bring $$$ CU hasn't ever seen.

If you were RG what would you do and when ?

Rick has only one job now, that is to get the money and be ready. Obviously CP will be here as long as Shedeur is here. He needs to present a contract that is very hard for CP to say no right after Shedeur is gone.

For god sake we spent almost a million in our stupid logo rebranding 10 years ago. What CP is bringing to us, in terms of branding and marketing effect, is worth probably 100x of that.

IMO, the assistant coach salary pool and support resources are what should be revisited every year. Giving Prime a raise is easy, but what's really going to keep him happy long term is making sure he never loses or can't hire a coordinator or assistant because we were outbid, or that he doesn't have enough recruiting or scouting assistants.

I don't think there is an urgency on either part at the moment. There will be as it becomes obvious that the team is on track to qualify for a bowl game and that the recruiting momentum is going to continue forward.

Not yet the time to put anything definite on paper but it is time now for RG to on the a low key basis communicate with CP about what he is looking for as they go forward.

Make it clear that they want this to be a mutual process that respects CP and his contributions.

Got to be prepared. The moment CU becomes bowl eligible or if they pull an upset at Oregon or against USC you will see
programs flush with cash come calling/snooping.

This. Prime has an ego, all people who are legitimately great at something have one. Keep him in the "top tier" of coaching salaries and he'll be fine personally. The big thing is doing what @manhattanbuff keeps saying and preparing to write checks for anything and everything he needs. If we lose a coach because it's an opportunity that's too good to pass up, that's one thing. If we lose someone because we won't open the checkbook, that's a big ****ing problem.

They should have plenty of dough. I made contribution to the Buff Club, a sum so grand, I expect it to pay Prime's salary for perhaps as long as 20 seconds.

After this season. As long as Prime gets the resources and salary he needs, I don't see him going anywhere.

You gotta start prepping stuff now, but as was noted above, it's going to be about things like assistant pools and other resources as much as paying him. He's said over and over that money is not something he has to worry about. It's going to be just as much about keeping him happy and supported as filling his pockets, if not more.

I am sure it has been said somewhere, but don’t you think one of the number 1 reasons Prime came to Colorado is essentially unencumbered control of a P5 program. He has total control with nobody telling him what to do. That is important to him. 100% support and no crappy underhanded boosters

Its too early but I would look into how much his marketing and recruiting is worth. If he's worth as much as Alabama and Georgia. You would be a fool not to consider anything. At the end of the day, JSU supporters who were mad weren't mad he took another job, they were mad as all that value which made them a household name just was gone and wasn't coming back. When it's like that, that's value biggest than football. That's helps the University build. You gotta pay him.

Mel Tucker got an insane contract for very good recruiting which is elite for MSU and a very good season. What Prime is doing is 10x that without the winning football yet. So we will see but the value he is bringing to the University is likely massive as I know it was worth over 100 million for JSU. Sadly the president has an ego and it got in his own way. Some people are happy with just being what they are. Some want greatness and a lot more and are willing to take calculated risks.

I saw somewhere that JSU had the 6th most social media engagements in the country, last year. I don't know what that translates to other than a lot of eyes on the program but crazy nonetheless.

I'm surprised his contract hasn't been extended already, with a $4 million per year increase plus performance bonuses.
