Rice had some really bad teams back in the 70's. KU and KSU were largely jokes from the late 70's through the early eighties. Cal and Oregon were equally bad for long stretchs in the 70's and 80's. Baylor was, well, Baylor for long stretches through the 70's and again in the early 90's. CU isn't that type of bottom feeder, yet. The above teams were no better than CU now, but maintained their level of ineptitude for years. CU has sunk to new lows under Embo, but they are, so far, short lived.
worst team I have ever witnessed. Much worse than either Baylor or KU in the late 90s and 00s. We are the cupcake of cupcakes. So, I said it in the gameday thread, but not only is this one of the worst teams in CU football history, but where do you guys think this team ranks as far as worst teams in D1 over the past 40 - 50 years? Top 10 worst? Top 5? Top 3?
a) The Ducks make everyone look horrible. (See the "So, do you guys hate the Ducks yet?" thread.)
b) The Buffs are not even close to the worst team in FBS this year. UMass, Southern Miss, and a number of other teams are much worse. I don't know what Sagarin says, but I've had a computer rankings system since 2001 and the Buffs are currently #107 out of #124. The following teams are ranked lower: CSU , Army, Buffalo, Idaho, Tulane, Wyoming, Eastern Michigan, UNLV, UTEP, New Mexico State, Florida International, Akron, Hawaii, UAB, Memphis, UMass, and Southern Miss. So far from "the worst."
c) The 2012 Buffs are not even close the worst Pac-10/12 team ever. As another poster mentioned, some of OSU's teams from 1971-1998 (aka "the dark days" or "the first 18 years I was alive plus 9 before that") were absolutely horrific. In recent years, I'd have to say Washington and Washington State in 2008 were way, WAY worse than the Buffs and quite possibly the worst Pac-10/12 teams ever. UW finished 0-12 that year. Wazzu was 2-11 but may have been even worse, with their only wins against Portland State and UW in the "Crapple Cup", lol. No, the Buffs really aren't THAT bad, in the grand scheme of things. In CU history, yes. But certainly not at the conference or division level.
Pretty funny that the only team in your ranking system that is "worse" than us that we played, beat us. Couldn't name which of those other teams listed that we'd beat, either.
