We've got a bunch of coaches in their first year, so they'll probably have a grace period. But you never know with all the money that's on the table these days.

Also, coaches may move on for reasons other than being fired.

Here's the list:

UA - Rich Rodriguez
ASU - Todd Graham
Cal - Jeff Tedford
CU - Jon Embree
UO - Chip Kelly
OSU - Mike Riley
Stanford - David Shaw
UCLA - Jim Mora Jr.
USC - Lane Kiffin
Utah - Kyle Whittingham
UW - Steve Sarkisian
WSU - Mike Leach

Which school is most likely to be looking for a replacement for 2013?

Voted for Tedford. I wouldn't be surprised to see Utah's Wittingham on the hot seat for 2013 if he can't take advantage of not having Oregon & Stanford on the schedule which will change for the 2013 season. That loss to the Buffs could really come back to bite Wittingham down the road just like it did for Solich after the 2001 game.

Whittingham will not be on the hot seat in 2013 regardless of what happens during the 2012 season. He just got a big pay raise to $2 million per season through 2016.

With the Pac-12's new media contract and Utah still running on a MWC operating budget, buying him out wouldn't be so difficult. It doesn't appear that it really has hit Ute fans & boosters about the oppournity that was lost when CU beat them. The Pac-12 office gave them one of the most favorable schedules and they went 4-5 with that schedule.

Utah will have five road games and four home games this upcoming season. USC, WSU, OSU, and UA travel to SLC...then they lose OSU & Cal in '13 and add UO & Stanford. There's no way they would have lost at USC by just 3 points if they played USC later last season. I can see USC running circles around the Utes and WSU pulling one off in SLC.

OSU's Riley has got to start winning soon as well because his seat is just about as hot as Tedford's seat.

Have you seen Cal's recruiting class. Tedford isn't going anywhere unless it's a promotion.

You're not paying attention to other threads. Cal's class is likely to implode in the next two weeks.

That said, I'm with sinkratz. With what they have returning (which is a lot), Oregon is going to have a really good year next year and somebody in the NFL is going to give Kelly a shot. There is already rumbling on the local sports radio about it.

Edit - Those of you voting for Mike Riley are on crack.

You might want to reevaluate your post. He absolutely will be on the hot seat if they have a dismal (losing) 2012 season, any coach who has been there that long would. There are too many factors to have any idea what Utah will look like next year at this time.

Any coach that has been the most successful coach in school history will be on the hot seat because of one dismal season because he has been there a long time? How can I argue with that logic?

Tedford, recruiting will go way down without Tosh there and he wasn't win much of anything while at Cal other than a few good seasons early on.

You've gotta guess Embree will get another pass this season, but if things continue as they've been going hopefully we're looking for a new coach come 2014.

"None" should've been a choice as well. I chose Tedford because he seems to have underperformed the talent level at Cal somewhat and his assistants are bailing. Kelly and Oregon seem to have dodged the Street Agent scandal despite a pretty transparent cover-up.

Tedford is the safest bet, but I would put an outside shot on OS. If Oregon State has another awful season Beaver fans may finally believe it is time to try something new.

no one has done less with more than tedford in the last few seasons. if he doesn't have a monster year, i expect he'll be on the hot seat. he's rapidly replacing mack brown as "mr. february."

12 answer max. Complain to an admin. 96 Buff loves to handle these types of requests.

My argument is less than stellar in how I present it, but unless you are Nostradamus, I don't see how you can say "Whittingham will not be on the hot seat in 2013 regardless of what happens during the 2012 season." We have just seen numerous Legends at their schools get fired for many different circumstances, and Wittingham is just as susceptible. I think you could also argue that Wittingham's success can be attributed to Meyer more than Wittingham.

Very doubtful Wittingham is on the hot seat but you can project who is going to be on the hot seat in coming years.

I think that jUtah fans were pretty satisfied with the 2011 season. Their record was about what they expected and then they won their bowl game.

That is what I have been thinking of late too...I don't think Embree will have the kind of time Hawkins had to turn the Buffs around. Pac-12 Network money will be the reason why.

I can see it fall apart for Embree as the expectations for next season has somewhat gone up despite all those new faces at starting positions on offense. We have six teams with new head coaches on our '12 schedule plus that FCS team plus five home games. And the rumored facility improvements will put pressure on Embree in recruiting especially if we break ground shortly after the announcement.

ASU, this Graham situation reminds me of Kiffin at Tennessee but instead of him leaving for somewhere else (he already did that twice) it just implodes and he ends of fired or resigning.

I hope you've at least prepared yourself for the day when Kelly bounces. He isn't the type of guy who's going to stay put at Oregon for 20 years, or even close..

What improvements, where is the money comming from, and when do they break ground? If this is true, it's great news.

Riley at OSU,he lost some weak games last year I think OOC sched has Wisconsin BYU and some cupcake this year anything less than stellar(whatever defines that)he probably is relieved

Kelly may leave soon, but he is hardly a journeyman. I think he spent (estimating here) 17 of the last 20 years at either Oregon or New Hampshire. In reality, he might be the least traveled of any coach in the PAC12.

You know what I love about you? It is like you are my personal stalker by how you respond to every one of my posts with some Oregon diss! I fully expect Chip Kelly to leave sometime down the road because he loves challenges and the NFL is just another step up on the challenge tree.
