I've been exchanging tweets with this guy, but have no idea who he is
Not a clown. Good guy. Worked a bit for Rivals as well I believe.
He told me that it was unreasonable to expect improvement this year, because last year he had 28 seniors.
Guy may be a nice guy, but he is delusional
Based on his conversation with Nik he's a clown. He didn't want to admit that Embree is over his head and isn't getting it done along with not admitting recruiting is not good. Good thing he only has 200 followers.
He really doesn't have anything tangible to back up his opinions other than what he's been fed about "good stuff going on that fans & media don't see" and "his expert says that the recruiting is bringing in some real talent this year". [paraphrasing]
I can't post the whole conversation because there is too much - but he doesn't know football. I asked him to name one area of improvement with Embree. He said the kicking game.

The old star ratings don't matter argument. Gotta love it.
Holy sh!t. I used to have some respect for Howell. He was the sports editor at the Times-Call. He took over covering the Buffs once Patrick Ridgell (God, whatever happened to that guy?) left journalism. Howell, seriously, that's just stupid. The idea that this team just needs more time is absurd.
He tweeted me that he expects the Buffs to be significantly better next year - and to win 3-5 games.
I hate my life.
Howell's a good guy and he's trying to engage. He and I just disagree on this one.
One example he used was Rich Brooks at Kentucky. I think the record was 4 wins in Y1, 2 wins in Y2 with declining stats despite a Sr QB, and then followed by 4 straight bowl appearances.
It's a great argument for why it would pay to have patience if you hire a guy who has been both a college and pro DC, spent 18 successful years as HC of a BCS program and also was an NFL HC for a few years prior to taking over the program.
So, I will make a vow. If CU hires someone with that kind of resume, I will not allow the W/L record, scoring differential or statistical rankings of the team to cause me to call for termination.
As I said to Howell, patience is earned.
