Here are your Naismith Trophy semifinalists:

Grayson Allen, Duke
Malcolm Brogdon, Virginia
Kris Dunn, Providence
Buddy Hield, Oklahoma
Brice Johnson, North Carolina
Jacob Poeltl, Utah
Ben Simmons, LSU
Tyler Ulis, Kentucky
Jarod Uthoff, Iowa
Denzel Valentine, Michigan State

Conventional wisdom is that Simmons will be the #1 pick in the NBA draft with Brandon Ingram of Duke nipping at his heels. But LSU had a disappointing season, so that likely eliminates him and makes this a Hield vs Valentine race.

Who do you think should win?

We'll look back at 2016 as the year of the seniors. It's real close between Hield and Valentine. I voted for Valentine because, as a college player, his game is so complete. A stat stuffing monster: 19.6 PPG, 7.5 RBG, 7.5 APG, 45.4 3pt%. You can make the case for Hield as well, he really is the Steph Curry of the college game this year: 25.1 PPG, 47.3 3pt%.

While I think Michigan State is a better team overall, they really struggled when Valentine was out. Oklahoma struggled down the stretch and maybe you can attribute that to the B12 gauntlet. In the end, they are both great. But I particularly love watching a guy like Valentine play. He's a coaches son who just does everything so well and can beat you in so many ways. Looking forward to watching these two lay it all on the line one last time in March. And a homer shout out to Josh Scott as well even though he is not on the list, what a leader, what a career.

The fact that he won ACC POY is reason enough to take notice. I don't think people understand how difficult it is for a guy from a school outside of North Carolina to win POY. It takes some serious doing, especially in a year when your team didn't win the regular season title. He won over Brice Johnson because he's simply better. I know Brogdon would win a team more games than many of these guys...coughBenSimmons

Voted for Brice Johnson, he's had a really good year imho. Dude has come a long way. Heild and Valentine are right there, Allen too.

In spite of their recent decline, Hield is to me the best college bball player I've seen since Anthony Davis. I'm not talking about NBA potential, but Hield is outstanding.

I could understand voting for Brogdon. I love Dunn, and while think he's somewhat overrated, I respect Valentine. But TWO votes for Poetl??...

Had to go with buddy. He's just too good. He's the type of guy that can put them into the final 4 on his own.
