You are making my point.
College sports is becoming such a big money enterprise that I'm thinking that you need more of a CEO type these days.
You need someone who directs compliance.
You need someone who directs fundraising.
You need someone who directs facilities & events planning.
You need someone who directs marketing & ticket office.
You need someone who directs admissions & academic support for athletes.
You need someone who directs recruiting and operational support for coaches.
And there's more.
Then, you need an AD who can manage all of those people. If you have good people in all the other positions (Associate AD & directors with the specific areas of responsibility), then you can hire someone who doesn't necessarily have an athletic department background but is more of a CEO type.
CU isn't there yet. We're still in the process of building that infrastructure. Once it's built, then I'm ready to talk about who should lead the AD if Bohn falls short of the current vision. Until then, I don't think we could attract the right person anyway.

Ceal Barry? Do we want to hire from within?
