Why hasn't Coach Mac named a starting QB?

Ok with 6 days to go, it is time for a starter to be named. I do find it troubling that Wood hasn't been named starter with 6 days to go to the game. He is the most experienced QB on the roster, 4th year in College, number 9 ranked QB in the nation coming out of High school.

Why is Hirschman backup QB at AKRON? That's the real question!
 
As long as our QB doesn't get to throw on 4th and goal against CSU, I really don't care who will get the start.

Yeah, because where you were ranked out of High School has a lot to do with the QB race.....
 
Yes BB2, how did the great Nick wonder not win the job? was it his glue feet In the pocket, or ridiculously long and slow motion?

I agree, some folks don't agree with you. It is all about the star ratings or class rankings or how many offers you received coming out of High school.

Love coach mac's strategy with this one. Gave enough time to facilitate legitimate competition which brought the true freshman along much faster than was probably expected, but now name the starter with a week of practice to get the offense plenty of time to really settle in and start building some momentum. Much better than waiting until game day. Now just hope Wood can use this new found confidence and turn it into some wins. I feel genuinely excited for the season for the first time in quite a few years. Can't wait to beat some sheep.
 
Interesting dilemma. Do you play Sefo a few plays each game (short yardage, goal line situations, etc) to get him some experience as the back up and take advantage of his athleticism, or do you hold off to try to keep the shirt on him since he seems like the clear QB of the future.

I think you leave him off the field unless 100% necessary. If we can preserve a year of eligibility I think we take it.
 
IMO why name a starter publicly? We all know it is likely Wood but there is no advantage to saying it so CSU knows. Let them try to scheme for many options. I promise the team knows who is starting now. I think the less info we give CSU the better

I'm sure they've been preparing for Wood as the starter since the first week of CU's camp when it was publically very clear that he was the best option. The naming of Sefo as #2 is interesting and they definitely have to account for the possibility of him getting some snaps with very limited film of him to study.

Agree. No sense in saying its going to be Wood today.
