Will Oliver has moved to #1 on the kicker depth chart

It was awesome he made nine in a row then embo stopped practice and called every player over to put the pressure on "if he makes this he is your starting kicker" Will drills it. Players go crazy "that's your ****in starting kicker baby "
 
Embo also said at the end of practice that punters are next."they don't know when its comin but theyre next"
 
Heres how it went down..

castor was kicking about 28yarders and i believe made 3 or 4 out of 10....
will makes 9 in a row. Embo stops the whole practices and calls every single person over and says
"heres the situation,these kickers need to make 10 kicks in a row.. i have givin them plenty of chances. hey castor how many opportunities did i give you??? i gave you 3. now will has hit 9 in a row... if he makes this... we have our starting kicker..."
(players cheer)Will pipes the 10th.. everyone cheers, and embo says... and here is your starting kicker!! will oliver.

Then later in 11 on 11s. the FG unit was called upon and castor walked out, and EMBO reemed him out and said " I SAID FIRST TEAM FIELD GOAL UNIT. WHAT DONT YOU GET CASTOR?! GET OFF MY FIELD". will made al 4 of his kicks then. for a 14/14 day!
 
would be pretty awesome to lock down the FG position for 4 years. after the ups and downs we've had the last few years....here's crossing fingers.

Don't you remember Goodman did have it locked down... Only one other FG attempted by another K the whole time right?:bang:

I'm stoked for Oliver, he picked the right time to have a huge day.

You gotta feel for Castor, getting beat out by a true frosh and having your balls cut off in front of the whole team like that would be pretty demoralizing. Hope he sticks with it.

I would hope he would have enough pride to step up and compete and try to reclaim the job. If not, I wouldn't want him kicking the 35 yard attempt with the game on the line anyway.

4 of 10 in practice is laughable. To think he would trot onto the field thinking he was still with the first team is the perfect example of the Hawkins mentality that needs to be removed from this team.

Or he recognizes that this is a performance based system and does what he has to do to get himself back into the mix.

If Embree has one message it is that the days of who plays being based on who your dad is or who your friends are or other things of that nature are over. Those who perform, will play. Stop performing and you go to the bench, step it up and you can get more time on the field.

If Castor has any kind of character he will recognize that the criticism isn't about him but about his performance. As long as the criticism is honest and distributed with honest praise as well Embree will be okay.

If players don't like it they have a choice, they can transfer. Embree can then use their spot for somebody who is going to be a part of the team and a part of winning not whining.
 
any possibility of transfer would probably be higher in the short term. once school starts, i'd say the possibility goes down.
 
You definitely have to feel for the kid a bit. Isn't Castor the one that got screwed by D2 last year?
