With additional reflection on our last game post watching the replay, I expect to feel better this upcoming Sunday morning versus how I felt waking up last week. Not sure how close we get, but I expect us to be within the 39 points (now) of the Ducks. In fact I do believe we will surprise many outside of Boulder with our play tomorrow. Gut feeling, but it is growing with me.
Odds makers and many Buff fans have been adjusting enthusiasm downward per CU post the OSU game. CU was a positive surprise up until the Beavs brought back some shades of last year for a portion of the game. Yet when you think about last week, it would have been much more shocking if CU had gone to Corvallis and crushed the Beavers. Or even won that game. Yes, they laid an egg as pressure mounted. CU had three weeks with no opponent, and Beavs played twice as many games as CU going into last week. Throw in some crap weather on the road and it looks rather predictable in hindsight. Add the additional weight of opening the conference schedule in Corvallis with several players experiencing their first real road game and first conference game..... wish it had not happened but its logical. Yes, we choked coming out of the locker room after an ok 1st half (solid half on defense).
Aside from special teams (which is admittedly a big deal) I trust this staff. It's a home game with a bunch of rust knocked off as we face Goliath, accompanied with little pressure on CU. CU will be loose and has found a bit of a running game. PRich and Woods will not be off stride to that same extent this week. Ball may bounce our way a little bit which would be a huge switch from last week. Yes I agree we have some flaws and Oregon will win the game, but I believe tomorrow will be the springboard for additional optimism as we ponder the rest of the Buffs season.
I believe my eggs will taste better this Sunday than they did last Sunday. Just a growing hunch....
