The absolute best part of the broadcast was the Hardee's commercial after Tyler M's TD in the 2nd quarter. Yikes.

There was lots of football to be played after that play...he didn't help by dropping the ball, but he did not lose the game. This was a team loss, starting with coaching decisions, no adjustments at halftime and players taking plays off !! If you go back and watch the game, CU did really good in the second qtr. When they returned to the field after half time, the whole team was flat - there actually were some holes made by the line (not many, but some) and the running backs missed them or went down to easy...those csu backs kept driving their legs and made it hard to tackle them. CU needs to learn to finish plays, and play 100% on every play. They can not afford (or talented enough) to take plays off.

It's easy to blame it on that one event. Overall, they played better in 3 out of 4 quarters.
 
You could also point to Webb holding the ball like a loaf of bread on the previous drive and losing it. We were in scoring position and had a good shot at going up 17-3 or 21-3. You have to protect the ball better.

True. and of course, Handler or Munyer ( always mix them up, but the RG) being a turnstile on the play and allowing penetration almost immediately. Webb stepped up like he was supposed to, stayed in the pocket instead of scrambling, and got killed for it. Wish he had scrambled.

Either that or just ****** adjustments at halftime. Can't tell which. THAT is what lost us the game.
 
there were a number of critical plays that certainly hurt our chances but the biggest factor imho at least on offense was the inability to adjust to the every down blitz scheme CSU threw at us in the 2nd half. outcoached/outschemed/outexecuted by the goat coaching staff...

That to me is the critical play. We go down and score 7 and go up 21-3. I like our chances at that point, in addition we get the ball back first in the 3rd quarter. Webb holds onto the ball, then there is no muffed punt.

Exactly. Coach has to know the situation. When you are up 14-3 and the other team can't do anything on offense why do you put ANYONE back to return a put deep in your own territory with 30 seconds til halftime. Unless he runs the punt back nothing good will happen the rest of the half but as you can see something very bad can happen. Let them punt the ball, down it, and go to halftime in complete control...we got the ball to start the second half too. And yes, I was saying this before they even punted. Learned my lesson against Ohio State last year when we did the same exact thing.
 
I rewound and watched that commercial again...my wife was a little pissed.

Bullsh*t! One play doesn't lose the game. We lost momentum at that point, but the inability to gain points after the defense created the turnover deep in CSU territory is what lost the game. CSU executed whern handed a gift by CU whereas we did not. Simple as that.

Right, it was that whole sequence of events right before the half that dramatically changed the course of the game, not just the muffed punt. We appeared to be driving for a score and then Webb gets hit and fumbles. Then the muffed punt, followed by the mix-up on defense where Major didn't go with his guy and Vinson was wide open for the TD.
 
This BS about Embree and staff engaging in a high risk punt return with DD are just not factually accurate. DD Goodson made a human error. I feel bad for him, but I'm sure he feels worse. It was a mistake, let's move on.

After a timeout to talk strategy and get its "punt safe" returner - D.D. Goodson - in place, Goodson muffed the punt and gave CSU a first down at the CU 20. First play, Garrett Grayson hit Dominique Vinson for a touchdown. The PAT was blocked, but CU's 14-3 advantage was now 14-9 - and the Buffs' edge was dulling. Goodson explained the muff like this: "I was back there - it was punt safe. I was supposed to secure it, look it in, make sure that I caught it. Instead, I tried to catch it and run."​

Don't really know what you guys are talking about. I was simply commenting on a commercial, and you are talking about a football game.

My point exactly, CB. Ya just can't get into "this play" or "that play" cost us the game. Sports is about reacting to the good and bad things that happen to your sorry ass.

The point is that trying to catch it at all is a risk. Why the hell was he supposed to secure it? Let it roll, kneel down, run out the half.
