A lot of this conversation is littered around the recruiting forums, but I wanted some help figuring out what the WR lineup is going to look like.

Next year we're potentially looking at:
S Shay Field, Devin Ross, Bryce Bobo, Kabion Ento
J Juwann Winfree, Jay-Mac, Lee Walker
S Johnny Huntley
F Derrion Rakestraw, Jaylon Jackson, KD Nixon, Laviska Shenault, Maurice Bell

Let me know if I messed that up. That's a lot of talent, we're legit maybe 10 deep? Are there potential redshirts in there?

Also, while trying to make sure I wasn't duplicating, I found this thread: https://www.allbuffs.com/threads/wide-receiver-is-our-biggest-hole-right-now.80108/

We are starting to look like WR U. with that intimidating line-up. This will also bolster the coverage skills facing all that talent in practice.
and BTW you forgot Little Chev The Prodigy

I am really looking forward to Winfree's return.
He was projected as a WR starter last year, right?

And won't we RS all of our incoming freshmen? It does not seem like there is room for them to see playing time immediately, outside of possibly Nixon?

Probably looking at

Shay, Winfree, Ross, and Bobo as our starting 4. Jay Mac and Huntley first off the bench.

KD will get time as a WR/RB and Shenault may be difficult to keep off the field as well.

Jaylon Jackson probably redshirts, and maybe Bell. Going to be "tough" given the amount of 4 start talent.

Live look at Montez thinking about this lineup...

As good as our defense was last year, our offense should be on par with that in 2017. Returning 4/5 OL and injecting the best incoming class we've had since...., a Senior 1,200 yard rusher, all of our WRs while adding some big time talent in Winfree and the Frosh kids, a potential Josh Falo option at TE, and a big-armed, mobile QB who saw valuable playing time and showed he can ball at this level. Going to be fun.

I think most of the freshmen will redshirt. Nixon should challenge right away in the return game.

Would not be surprised if the coaches try to redshirt Ento.

While I agree that most should/will redshirt, I would not be surprised if the decision to do so goes deep into fall camp.

I agree about Nixon challenging in the return game immediately, and perhaps having a small niche in the offense, but I think Shenault has a chance as well. At 6'1" 200+, he just adds a different dimension to our WR group that is sorely needed.

I think the coaches would like Winfree to be that big WR next season.

I would like Winfree and Shenault-types be the norm for our WRs going forward.
Good call.
Really? Huntley saw time last year on offense and Special Teams and is the only WR in his class. Plus, I feel like Ento could easily use another year in the weight room, while Huntley looks more developed. You really think they'd be better off RS him over Ento?

Think it would be in an effort to move Ento along quickly as his chances of being a significant contributor are dwindling.

We didn't lose any receivers and Winfree is coming back though so there isn't a ton of playing time going around. I would think coached would much rather redshirt a guy as a sophomore than redshirt a senior when he probably isn't going to get a ton of playing time his redshirt senior year with Huntley, Winfree, Shenault and Raktstraw all competing for the same spot.

Two things come to mind. One or two of these guys may switch to the defensive side, boosting the DB corps. As much of a warrior as Sefo was, I expect the starting QB to be more accurate and probably a more dynamic run threat, largely because of an improved line, and the improved WR group. These things obviously improve the run game, making the whole greater than the sum, IMO.

The defense will likely take a step back as the offense progresses. Hopefully the new DC is able to transition well, new starters are as capable as we hope, and depth is more than expected, keeping the sum from being greater than the whole.

Overall, I expect a slight step back, record-wise, but see some hope for improvement. The glass is more than half full, as I see it.

Jaylon Jackson is potentially the most explosive and has the benefit of being here in the spring. He's had some time to rehab that knee so I'd not count him out as the guy we can't keep off the field.

I love that we're finally building depth. Before last season, some of the WRs who have seen the field at CU after our top guys experienced injuries did not belong on a P5 field. Buffs are getting so much better.

I thought Ento showed some real potential. I hope the light comes on for him in the spring.

What do you folks think about huntley? We were all stoked when he became a buff. You think he makes any impact next season or is he more geared toward 2018?

We have more WR talent than we've had in years and I expect Montez to be a better overall QB than Sefo. But given the lack of production late in the year I wouldn't say CU is WR U. I think the spring game will show quite a bit.

Need Lindsay to not have injury issues to open up the play action. I hope we have a lot fewer QB draws; Montez seems a step slow.

Hope they evolve the offense to take advantage of all the skill talent and Montez' strengths. And please make use of a TE in the middle / seams more than twice a season. Offense got so predictable with all the QB power stuff later in the year. The really good teams aren't going to let you beat them with that.
