The quick and dirty version:

Their starting QB was a candidate for the Rhodes Scholarship but his interview was on the same day as the Harvard-Yale game. He chose to play in game rather then go to the interview which is necessarry for the scholarship and can't be rescheduled. The QB decided to play in large part based on advice from his head coach who was also up for the Rhodes Scholarship when he was in college so he had a unique perspective into the situation. This was a pretty big story leading up to the game. Yale ended up getting destroyed 45-7 in the game. Later it was discovered that the Yale head coach had lied on his resume and was never a Rhodes candidate. He was promptly fired. Then today it came out that the QB who was given a lot of credit for not abandoning his teamates never actually had an interview that day because his candidacy was suspended because a girl had just accused him of rape. He's now no longer enrolled at Yale and didn't graduate.

Why are they scheduling these interviews on a Saturday anyway? Couldn't the Rhodes people give a window of dates/times for said interview? If it's that exclusive I figure they're not having to pencil in that many people for appointments.

This sounds like a John Grisham book. What a bunch of pampered, limp-wristed effetes.

BTW, when you are morally and intellectually lazy, isn't it fun and easy to blanket stereotype an entire student population like I just did? : )

So a ****** QB didn't get screwed by anyone but himself? Great story, this has really enriched my life...
