You know what didn't suck? Special teams.

Kick coverage was decent, we hit all FG attempts, actually showed some creativity. This was not one of those games that could be won with good special teams play, but it wasn't the reason for the loss, either.

I liked the kick returns...decent lanes for Severson. But why not get a speedier guy out there who has a chance to break one?

I wish I could hit a wedge as well as O'Neil hit his punts. Great job killing the ball inside the 20

Your typical wedge shot may have come in handy as well....skull shot into the Oregon bench area, taking out their play caller....

Well, we got a lot of practice on kickoff returns! Punt returns, not so much. Did they ever punt?

I still want DD back returning everything.

Oregon was 3 and out on their first possession ... I think, so yes they punted but not much.

Credit where it's due. Neinas's squads improved a lot this game. With Oregon's speed, I was expecting them to have a big advantage on STs. But our Buffs probably won that phase.

Oliver and O'neill deserve more credit then they are getting. Return and kick off coverage looked much better.

So, who beside PRich, is faster that you would want to risk?

Ever see Severson's vids from HS? He's plenty fast enough and durable enough to take a hit on STs as well. He might be the 6th or 7th fastest player on the roster; maybe the fastest at his size. Not everybody is Trinden Holiday at 4.2/40!

Didn't Adkins return one of the kickoffs? I like having a RB back there. You'd think Tony Jones would be good at that.

Well, I'll believe it because you say so, and coach keeps saying he is fast. But boy, he sure doesn't look it.

i think DD is worth the risk. Not taking a shot at Severson, but he is not very fast, and will not be breaking any long ones.

What about Ross? I wouldn't mind seeing him return a few. Maybe there is a reason he isn't tho.

I think Severson is fast but I don't see much elusiveness from him. He seems to take a line and once he does he is set in it. Unless you have very good STs you are rarely going to have those lanes that let you get big returns running straight ahead.

Even if Severson is faster than DD (which I doubt is the case) Goodsen has shown more elusiveness. If we want to get some returns that flip the field I would be more comfortable with DD back there but the coaches have their reasons for the decisions they make.

Severson definitely came up gimpy after one of the kickoffs. Does anybody know if he is going to be back to 100% by the weekend?

This is exactly what I have been begging for. Our returners have given up yards too many times when they try to belly around the outside.

Agreed, Plus Severson almost broke one out for a TD early in Q1 I believe. He was a man away when he was tripped up.

True and people bitched about him be slow and not turning the corner. People we played Oregon, their ST is all track stars.
