This is Allsome...Welcome to Boulder Colorado. Great things are happening.

Go BUFFS!

366yds and 8 tds on the ground as a senior. Not a slouch when it comes to running the ball. Pretty evident its not his preference though.
Being a "dual threat" in high school is quite a bit different than being considered a DT in the Pac 12. Noyer is not a DT QB, IMO.

Would agree, he isn't going to scare anyone with his legs.

Might create some additional options for himself though with a thought process that allows him to use his legs to extend plays and/or to run when needed.

Something tells me some people thought of Sefo as a "dual threat" QB in high school, too.

IMO, Sefo's speed isn't the huge issue it is his burst. When he gets up to full speed he is decent but he has a tough time accelerating and getting up to that speed quickly. If Noyer has a little more burst which is completely possible considering he isn't as big as Sefo, his speed will be fine.

And that's fine, but I think S2S hit the nail on the head. Like Sefo, Noyer is not a dual threat. He isn't going to run the read option, keep it, and be a threat to go 60-70 yards. Both of them are mobile with some escapability to their game, but not what I would consider DT.

Yeah maybe. I think you can still be a dual threat without being a home run threat. Just like there are power running backs, Sefo was actually a great power guy this year despite his limitations in the passing game. IMO, all you are asking your QB to do in the run game is get 5 yards when he runs and keep the defense honest. If you can do that you are opening up running and passing lanes for your other players. Then when the defense keeps keying on those guys that is when you break those qb runs for more than 5 yards.

I don't see Noyer as a dual threat QB.

I hope he's a guy who can avoid some pass rush, threaten the defense on read option, and -- most importantly -- can accurately throw while rolling right or left. But he is not a QB that opposing DCs are going to put a spy on.

When I talk about DT QBs, I'm referring to guys that HAVE to be accounted for by the defense in both the running game and passing game. Sefo/Noyer are not that type of QB. Catching a snap and following 2 lead blockers off tackle is not a DT, IMO. Hell, Tom Brady may be the best short yardage QB to ever play the game of football.

Sefo lacks a burst of speed then.

Yeah and I actually thought Sefo did an okay job running the read option when he was allowed to. Also did a good job on the jet sweep fake inside runs. Obviously the coaches wanted to limit those runs with his shoulder though.

I took a quick look back at the thread. He actually was rated as a DT by ESPN, so that says a lot. Also big bang apparently thought he had the potential to develop into another RG3. Seemed like most people did not buy the dual threat label though.

Ha, Sefo was a Division 1 athlete playing among a bunch of high school kids, so of course ESPN had him pegged as a DT. Therefore, his 4.8 40 was probably better than average and he was able to rack up some rushing yards. Slightly different ball game entering the Pac 12.
