DeNiro

My Dixie Wrecked
Ducks lose starting WR for 6-8 weeks.

He is 180 pounds lol at 6’3. I know he is an athlete and can be dangerous but he will get hurt in the conference if he is used in the run game a lot. That’s not even a question.
Herm will use him in select situations as a dual threat. He will force Ds to be honest on the edges, giving possible inside lanes to Benjamin beyond a good, seasoned OL. He’ll create more gameplan problems than Wilkins in my opinion.

Down the line I agree but he is a true freshman. It’s going to be a learning experience, especially early and they can’t just run him a bunch because he will get hurt at that size so I see it as a positive for us this year.

Mercury News not bullish on Buffies:

I usually really like Wilner's pieces. Did he not do any research on the Buffs after LOIs were signed? I would love for the Buffs to serve a heaping of humble pie. And I'm not saying he's wrong in what the season COULD be, but doesn't seem to include anything that's happened this spring, summer or fall camp.

Yeah, I mean 3-9 is a doomsday scenario.

I'm amazed at how good the national media thinks Nebraska are going to be. They view that CU game as a automatic layup for Nebraska and their QB who is a soph but I think he has been there 10 years.

So basically, Wilner is saying worst case is 0-1 wins and absolute best case is 6 wins? If worst case includes losing to CSU and/or AFA, then best case definitely means beating the mediocre teams on the schedule in Neb, ASU, UCLA, USC, and WSU and pulling an upset over one of the upper tier programs.

I'll play along... Worst case = 1-11, Best case = 8-4

Meh. Wilner's a homer. Not the typical homer who thinks the hometown (NorCal) teams are great, but the kind of homer who knows much more about the hometown teams than any other team. Where he really laid an egg, in my opinion, is by saying that the program is trending down and supporting his hot take with this bit of foolishness: "But the Hotline thought Mike MacIntyre was the right man to elevate the program on a multi-year basis, and it looked that way right up until it didn’t. It’s a tough gig. A tough, tough gig."

Wilner thought MM was the right man because he watched him get 11 wins in San Jose and figured he was the second coming of Bob Stoops or something. Guess what, Jon? Hawk won 13 games in Boise and I'd rather have Burrito coach the team than him. Many, maybe most, on this board saw MM for who he was--a decent guy, a decent coach, but not the man who was going to put this team in the championship hunt year after year. I have little doubt that the program is trending up with RG in charge and expect Tucker to take us further than MM ever could.

This season won’t be judged on wins and losses for me. Schedule is BRUTAL. Not one gimme win. New playbooks and staff to learn. I’ll be happy to see a team that plays hard, is organized, wins a few games and gives some good teams a battle to the end. And improves as the season goes on.

CSU and AFA should absolutely be viewed as gimme wins. Outside of that, I agree. However, we’ll know pretty quickly into conference play if this staff can coach and motivate. This team has the talent on offense to score a lot of points and the front line talent on defense to compliment it. 6 wins and a bowl should be in reach and not viewed as a unicorn type of season.

In state rival at a neutral site to open the season is never a gimme.
