AP RANKED!

That's what I remember from last year, did a lazy search and couldn't find it.

Looks like Ohio State was #1 in the first rankings at the end of November last year. Only reason I was able to find it is because I remember how stupid it looked at the time to have OSU #1.

RPI and all the rest are wonky until late January, too. Too often we end up with teams ranked crazy high because they lost to a lot of good teams without actually doing anything positive other than showing up.

How far do we rise this week? I assume Michigan jumps into the top 10 from being unranked but a few teams in the teens lost at least once this week.

We might move up slightly. There are teams ahead of us that lost 1 or 2 games. But then there are also programs that could make significant jumps from the unranked based on what they did.

I think that being ranked in that 20-25 range is probably right. If the tournament started today, I think we've got a team that should get out of the 1st round and would be a sight underdog to win its next game to make the Sweet 16. So, we're in that 17-32 range in my opinion and shaded toward the good side of that range.

Hopefully, being ranked translates into Tad getting some better recruits. Tad's Achilles heel is his challenges recruiting.

Irony of this post aside, I am a little nervous about the '20 and '21 classes. Lots of potential, but would love a couple more proven 4* recruits from strong basketball regions as well – the timing of us being ranked can't hurt Eason's coming announcement.

This is going to be the most grueling December in recent history for the Buffs. @KU, @CSU, vs UNI, and underdogs vs/@ Dayton. Going 3-1 in that stretch would be massive.

They are fortunate at this point. Second half against Clemson and Wyo looked great . But otherwise pretty lethargic

Schwartz has to get more consistent
Kin is not shooting well
Bey has improved his game and even has a decent looking three. But the rest of the team seems to sit back and watch
Seiwart is the Montez of basketball
Eli Parquet needs to start b/c of his perimeter D and can get better fast
Battey is a baller. Would love him as a fourth score. Does most things well. But dumb fouls
Gatling, Daniels and kountz They can all flat out score if they are given a chance
Walton needs more minutes to work the rust off.

I think the team is playing a bit tentative. It looks like tad is riding them so hard to play D and rebound (which is great) but he’s tanking guys very fast in the rotation.
To go deep in the tourney We have to have kin bey and Battey as is. But Walton has to be force, Schwartz has to become a dominant scoring threat, seiwart has to be a knock down three guy

and one of the three Maddox Daniels or kountz needs to emerge.

this is so potentially awesome. I’m slightly concerned that tad is over coaching. Let them play

any thoughts?

Tad said it himself. Teams have the book on CU--don't let them score in transition. That's why Kountz has struggled, he's best on the open floor. I think Tad needs to have them push the pace a bit, and not set up the halfcourt every time they have equal numbers.

I’m much more worried about our play than our ranking.
That’s deep

They’re 6-0. The defense is very close to elite. There is way too much hand wringing going on in this thread.

Calm down and enjoy the ride. They’re going to lose some games. They’re probably going to lose at Kansas. It’s ok. This team is fun.

I’m quoting this in case anyone didn’t see it the first time.

And pretty much every Tad team plays their best ball in Feb & March. I’m not getting concerned about minor problems right now. They’ll get fixed.

Just don't drop a game to somebody like CSU. Kansas and Dayton are house money games. ASU and Clemson are big Ws already.

I’m curious. Has your prediction for the season changed after 6 games? Any roadies look more winnable? Any home game traps?

A win over LMU on Wednesday, paired with a good showing at Kansas Saturday, should keep the Buffs in the top 25 next week.

A win over Kansas should vault them into the top 10.

I half expected to be up at 15 because of the Kansas trip. KU hoops gets Alabama football type treatment from the media.

Dayton got a good bump after their loss to the Hawks in OT.

As Torero said 'they're 6-0.' We should enjoy that donut hole on the right while it lasts. Its likely they'll drop a game or two this season they shouldn't have so at least they've managed to avoid that so far.

I hate hate hate KU(DIE chickenhawk DIE!!!!!!!), and really don't want to see them lose to Dayton for family reasons, however those are the 2 non-con games left they can afford to lose.
