2021 Transfer Portal

There’s going to be some craziness in the portal with everyone getting a free year of eligibility. Lots of guys are gonna put themselves in the portal and find themselves without a home.

Sounds like Cincy might end up taking everyone who doesn't find a home elsewhere

Both Dallas and D’shawn entering the transfer portal and look to play at another P5

I don’t think this is a good look
I think it's going to be a common look; and we're entering a whole wild era for the next 4-5 years with the extra COVID year of eligibility that everyone got.

All four of Schwartz, Walton, Horne, and Daniels played effective minutes on a top 25 team and also won't get a look from the NBA. They all can play another season and get a school to pay for a year of graduate school; either or both of those things are going to be appealing.

They are exploring their options, and with only 2 free scholarships for next year, the option of all of them staying in Boulder does not exist.

I have to disagree. Both dshawn and Dallas will make a very nice living playing professional basketball.

They could play in Europe and make a decent and fun living.
D'Shawn is a player that I would think we would be fine with staying on, but they were likely already told clearly what the plan is and they are likely not part of it.
Good luck to them, they possibly could play down a level as well based on Grad School options.

Love Dallas. There is no path.
Yeah, the path would assume 5 consecutive injury free years with considerable improvements in lateral quickness and explosiveness. I might place the odds slightly higher than the Rockies winning a WS in the next 5 years.

D'Shawn could play overseas. Dallas MIGHT be able to get minutes in China, but a Chinese team isn't using one of their US player spots on him.
I agree, you disagreed with my post that said the NBA wasn't going to give them a look.

I can see how another year of college ball and a grad degree would be appealing to any NCAA senior, before embarking to pro ball overseas.

I thought Tad mentioned one time that Grad transfers can get 2 years of grad school paid for by the school they are transferring into, but he would only be able to pay for 1 if they stayed. In essence he basically encouraged those players to find another school if they truly intended to complete grad school.

So granted this was 2 years ago, we were sitting next to some NBA scouts (they sit in the seats next to us often). We assumed they were all in on Tyler and whatever other team we were playing, but cannot recall who it was (probably Arizona or something), but when my wife started talking to them, sure they were interested in the top talent, but they also mentioned D'Shawn as someone they were very intrigued with. It really threw us off, as he was a little more than a role player at the time. Again, this was a few years back, and obviously expected a lot of growth that probably didnt happen, but he was (maybe still is) on the radar of some NBA teams.

Dallas' NBA path seems more likely to follow the Chris Copeland route, if and it's a big IF, it were to happen.

Excuse Me What GIF by One Chicago

This is a good way for current seniors to get a free year of grad school. Good deal for them, take it! If they had a shot at making money playing BB somewhere they would probably take it. Free grad school is the wiser choice.

Would you have predicted Copeland would play in the NBA when he graduated?

I'll spell it out for you all.

I think there's less than a 1/1000 chance Dallas plays in the NBA.

Effectively zero.

It wouldn't be the most unlikely story in the history of sports if it did happen though.

Yes it would. Add in his injury history and there's zero chance.

Schwartz rumored to George Mason to play a year for Kim English
I could see Strating moving down a level to get some better playing time, the young man deserves it
Dallas, no ideas
Jessup should move down and get playing time somewhere

Sounds like Tad WANTS to have Horne back as the one Grad Transfer guy
