2021 Offseason Thread

Anyone catch the news that CU spring football is kicking off today?
I thought there would be more excitement about this. 🤷🏻‍♂️
But I did like this quote - "I thought offensively we were a little bit bland in terms of motions and shifts so we started right away creating some motions and shifts," Dorrell said. "So it was a good start at that. You can tell they are chomping at the bit. They have high expectations of themselves."

Dorrell mentioned today that Barnes will be playing what they call the 'Moe' position at linebacker. He mentioned that position will be moving from inside to outside at linebacker. Thinking that might be the new hybrid role and replacing the star position?

Could be just what they are calling the position and he will still primarily be ILB

What about the Larry and Curly position?

Don't we usually have a thread dedicated just to Spring Ball stuff mods? Maybe I'm just misremembering

WTAF. Clarence Thomas asked a question and suggested an argument with which I agree.

Befuddled.
yea. I would have thought that impossible. I think he's asked questions in less than 5 cases unless I missed something last term.

Edit: yup, since zoom happened, apparently Thomas is on the question game.

With the direction this is going don't be surprised if we have a lot of schools trying to figure out what to do with a big empty stadium in the future.

A few schools will be happy to compete financially and buy winning teams, a bunch more will try. Of the ones who try many/most will figure out that they aren't in it and a number of schools will not even bother to try.

How many schools do we end up with at the top level of college football paying players and competing on compensation? In time I'd guess 25-40.

Competitive team sports don't work under a open-market concept, without restrictions.

Drafts and Salary caps are necessary to create a competitive landscape in Pro sports.

CFB is already completely and totally non-competitive with a small group of have's and the rest of us are have-nots.

Waiting to hear how the NCAA can pay players, thrive economically, and create a competitive landscape. Such a plan would be very helpful for us have-nots and be strongly opposed by the schools with deep pockets.

Alabama will have the 120th (and final) pick in the 2023 first round?

Or, local car dealer offers Quarterback from Texas $3,000,000 to play for the Huskers next year. In a one-year deal of course, because every player should be allowed to leave without restrictions, just like in the pros (not)!

The NCAA is a non-profit. Why do they need to thrive again?
