Okay, some of you may remember this blog post that came out last August:

http://www.washtenawwatchdogs.com/4...football-player-brendan-gibbons-for-rape.html

The gist is that in 2009, Brendan Gibbons, then a freshman kicker for the Wolverines, was accused of rape at a campus party. His roommate at the time, OL Taylor Lewan, was accused of then intimidating the victim into keeping her mouth shut, allegedly saying he'd rape her again if she said anything. No prosecution was pursued by the authorities, no punishment for Lewan or other players for intimidation either, for whatever reason.

The above blog post was dismissed as a Buckeye fan twisting the facts to trash Michigan, that the matter had been vetted, and there was nothing to see here.

Then today:

http://mgoblog.com/content/brendan-gibbons-expelled-untruths-rampant

It comes to light that Gibbons, a 5th year senior this past fall, was expelled in December, just before Michigan's bowl game. He was expelled for that 2009 incident, by a University conduct enforcement body of some kind, who decided after 4 years that it was time to dole out a punishment.

The other shady part is Brady Hoke and UM AD Dave Brandon basically lied about the reasons Gibbons was going to miss the bowl game. They cited "family issues", and Hoke mentioned a possible injury of some sort.

This will be hard for Michigan to explain away, at best it's a just a completely bungled situation, if not a complete cover-up.

Also makes Hoke's seat even hotter than it was. It seems to be turning a lot of Michigan fans against Hoke and the AD, if they weren't pissed already.

News couldn't have come at a better time....for Mizzou.

deny, deny, deny is the A&M/Auburn model. Wonder how that works for allegations of sexual misconduct.

Sad story involving Bo Schembechler's family. This changed my opinion of Schembechler completely.

Tough read. This lowers my opinion of him to sub-Paterno territory. Just messed up all around.

Bo was the epitome of old school football coach. Guys like him, Royal, Bryant, Osborne, Paterno, Bowden, etc are all cut from the same mold. We know the skeletons in some of those closets, we don’t know the others, but I’m fairly certain they’re there.

How the hell a father would be ok with that is beyond my comprehension. So f'd up. Although, a lot of HC's a this level are complete psycho paths.

These guys are so concerned about their legacy and the reputation of their teams that they are willing to bury anything including apparently their own kids.

And the fans are so wrapped up in winning games that they not only go along but they vilify the messengers.

The sex assault reports at Michigan date back to the 1970's. Then again, theirs the OSU wrestling team sex assaults too. Both ugly stories.

What does that say about us?
