CU Buffs hire former Minnesota OC Mike Sanford as their new OC

No sense of urgency. Does he not understand that potentially very good players in the portal are signing with their new teams every day?

"Let's hire a Portal Manager. We can form a committee to write up a job description and when that's approved we can identify 3 or 4 candidates, and then we can create an interview schedule and after we conduct the interviews we can narrow the list down to 2 candidates and after having conducted second interviews with those 2 guys we can have a meeting to discuss the pros and cons of our projected choice and then a few weeks after that we can make an offer to our top choice.
We anticipate that the process should take no more than eight weeks and that the Portal Manager should be able to start work at the beginning of Week 9, just as soon as he or she has completed our 3-day Sensitivity and Ethics Workshop."
8 weeks? LOL. That would actually represent a sense of urgency.

5-6 months seems more likely.

Well, unless KD has another son he could hire.

My favorite part of this is Dorrell’s entire selling point he has decided to focus on is Sanford’s track record with “developing the quarterback”.

A man who has demonstrably shown significant regression at the QB position across all of his stops is being sold to us as a great developer of QBs.

Do Rick and Karl seriously think we’re that stupid? Tell us “we’re focused on a hard nosed and creative run game” or something based in the reality of his history as a coach. Great developer of quarterbacks being the main point they want to hammer is hilarious
Yes, he does.

In truth, most of the fans who matter to RG go to these big donor functions and are told, "Karl has a plan and is building something special like McCartney did. Recruiting is going great. We just need to be a little patient."

And they mostly believe it.

Why do they believe it?

KD offense won't work if we can't run the ball. The OL cant block, so CU can't run the ball. All this talk of half RPO or half west coast is all poimtless if you don't have the OL. I am extremely dissapointed by the activity in the portal. Still haven't signed any OL. This is the current OL depth heading to spring ball.

OT- Wiley, Filip, the tank, Gray
G- Roddick,Lytle, Ray, Jynes, Amaya, Anderson
C- Fenske, Johnson

Need two tackles, a center and a LG to have the numbers for spring ball.
That's the spirit!

On the surface, seems like a lazy and uninspired choice. NFL guy with what I’d presume to be very limited, if any experience at recruiting football players to a college program.

I find it interesting Feldman puts it out before the local boys. Some other coaching news broke that way as well, like when Chev was let go.

Yeah, plus he has a KD connection so that is a demerit. He does have four years of college WR coaching experience so he has recruited, no idea how successfully yet. From reading some articles he is a big personality guy, an anti-KD if you will, so that would be different.

Because it's their only source of information. Most are not on message boards, checking 247sports rankings or even on twitter. It's an echo chamber.
Makes sense. As far as this new wr coach possibility, his name sounds familiar to me, but that's about it.

Yeah this would be a great hire all things considered. Honestly a little shocked the coaching hires have been this good
OL is a big ? with potential, but will be a huge improvement just by showing up to the job. Rest have been unreservedly good hires.

Kind of reminds me, construction wise, of the Embree staff, although obviously not as bad. Great position coaches for the most part and crap HC/coordinators.

Maybe they’ll land more talent. For the next guy.

It’s also very possible that KD isn’t nearly as bad as everyone thinks and is being hurt by the admin at CU, ie wanting to get rid of Chev after last season. If we have a different OC we go bowling two years in a row.
