2025 NCAA Tournament Games Thread

Ew. UConn taking it to South Carolina.

I’ve always hated UConn, dating back to when ESPN acted like the recruiting arm of UConn’s women’s basketball.

Iirc, Caitlin ended up at Iowa because Geno chose to sign Paige over her. This championship would go a long way towards that not ending up being such a mistake. Her college production and accolades have been off the charts along with tourney success despite the knee injuries. Special player and one heck of a comeback story. Very happy for her today.

Nah - she plays at UConn, so she can eat a bowl of dicks.

Clark never wanted to play at UConn. She verbally committed to Notre Dame but then she wanted to be closer to home so her parents and brothers could watch her play.

It's true UConn didn't recruit her because of Paige but Clark has said she would have liked to have been recruited by them just to say they recruited her. I don't think she would ever have gone there because of the distance. Besides Geno is an a$$. Look how he treated Elena Delle Donne when she left UConn without ever playing a game because being close to her family was more important than a championship.

I also hate UConn because of ESPN and always forcing us to watch their blowout games instead of competitive games, especially during the NCAA tournament. Games would be blacked out unless a team was in your geographical location. So we would get to watch a boring UConn game while the other game scores scrolled across the top. Sometimes would cut to another game for a few minutes.

I have not watched UConn play basketball since the 1995 Final Four and that was only because I was at the game.

Sheryl Swoopes haa hated on Clark for the past several years. She is starting to say a few positive things about her but she is no longer on the Dallas Wings broadcast team. She spewed her stuff every time the Wings played the Fever.

Take this for what it is worth, I am looking at it from far on the outside but from what I have seen of Clark and her personality and priorities I think that she and Geno would have been a train wreck of personalities and I think she is smart enough to have seen that even when she was in high school.

She is fiercely competitive but tempers that with a balance in her life with her family, her friends and teammates, her faith. Geno is a great coach but with him there is no balance, it's Geno and his way or nothing.

Clark was gifted enough as a player that whichever major program she went to was going to win and win big. I think she made a decision that resulted in a much better experience for her overall. I also think that decision was better for the sport of women's basketball even if some established big names can't get past their jealousy of Clark.

So the king of temper tantrums on the sideline didn’t want someone who threw temper tantrums on the court. Got it.
I don't know why he even needs to throw his tantrums with refs, his teams get calls all over the damn place. I can see it a little more with his players to light a fire under their ass and get the best out of them. Some will respond to that, some won't. What really can't be argued is how many national titles and final fours they've accomplished. Of course, their talent level had plenty to do with it but he played a role in it. I don't like the peckerhead but his resume is unmatched really. As far as South Carolina, they didn't forget that first beat down they got and it happened again.

I respect the greatness.

I understand someone not liking his personality or rooting against a dynastic program or taking issue with them being ESPN's golden child of WBB or simply being rubbed the wrong way when WBB was such a women's advancement success but the dominant program ending up being one that was coached by a man.

What I wanna see in a bit is refs, figure out how your going to call and be consistent with the shvt. Don't call it tight one half and then let it be wide open the other. Other words, stay the fvck out of the way.

Or stay in the way and call it tight the entire game. It's the change somewhere between the first 5 minutes and the last 5 that is most infuriating.

15 from Florida had a rough trip downcourt. Missed a dunk, went back up only to get stuffed, then knocked the ball out of bounds.

Houston is 10-17 from inside the arc, 0-7 from outside.

Keep pounding it inside.

Florida did well to cut it to 3 points before the half. For a minute there it looked like Houston was going to build a big lead.

They keep talking about how Houston takes away an opposing team’s best player. I think that’s why we hung tough with them both times we played them. We didn’t have a best player.

Houston is fully in Florida’s heads. Florida needs to get back to playing their game or this game is going to get way from them.

Not happy with the way the refs are calling the game. They let both teams play in the first half, then Florida went dumb in the first few minutes of the half trying to match Houston’s physicality. The refs didn’t need to start calling things on Houston that they didn’t call in the first half, but here we are, less than halfway through the second half, both teams are in the bonus. It’s hard to not think that the refs felt pressure to even the fouls up.
