knubraska NCAA violation?

It's just a minor infraction if that's the case, but it would be pretty interesting if true. Covering up an infraction is a big deal, I believe if they self-report there is no penalty

If only that were the case a couple of years ago when we told the world that some of our athletes were eating just a little better than they were supposed to...

Pretty stupid IYAM. I think Nebraska's would be a minor infraction, and cookiegate was a little more serious
 
Hate to put a damper on this, we all hate the Fuskers intensely (and that's healthy of course :smile2:).

But we do not want them sanctioned, that's not good for CU I don't think.

How was it a little more serious? The NCAA punished CU knowing that in 2 months they were rewriting their rulebook to make it a non-violation. So they committed what is now a non-violation violation. Ticket scalping, and a possible cover up sounds more serious to me. They may get a slap on the wrist now, but any more infractions and the punishments will probably be harsher then had this not happened.

OK then, arn't team rules just an extension of University rules, many of which are parrallel with NCAA rules? So what is the penelty difference between a team rule for selling tickets as opposed to the NCAA penelty for selling tickets? This is really messed up.
 
The word is Cody lied about this whole thing and he wasn't selling tickets. Word is he did something sexual with a girl against her will and her daddy is a big booster. The daddy didn't want anything criminally done and I guess he talked the daughter in to that. Bo instead suspended Cody for the rest of the season and kicked him off of the team. Cody's a$$ is lucky he isn't in jail. This very well may be a rumor, but it's what I continue to hear over and over again?

According to the rumor a man values a football team more than the prosecution of the man who raped his daughter? I'm dubious. I don't think that man exists, even in nebraska.

Even in the Kenny Rogers song, the coward of the county broke his solemn vow to his father to seek vengence against the rapists who took their turns with Becky.

Really? Then the only way this is going to go away is if the truth comes out. Because the NCAA will want to get to the bottom of this, and funny thing is NU has STILL not come out and said what the suspension was for. Until then, my gut says there is some truth to this, otherwise why make up a story as specific as ticket scalping? Either way, I've got my popcorn out and will enjoy the show.
 
I wonder if John Henderson will write a scathing editorial about the lack of institutional control at kNU

Cody didn't get to play any more downs at NU so why would a "father" protect him from the law after the kid sexualy assaulted his daughter. Now, if he had another year of eligibility, this would be the Husker thing to do and it would be a LOT more believable!

I think we will find out that either NU covered this up (unlikely) or Cody flat out is lying about whatever the infraction was that got him kicked off the team. The NU staff has a policy about disclosing this info and is respecting the kid's privacy. I doubt we will ever find out what happened, but we will likely find out it had nothing to do with scalping tickets and also likely that it's not a NCAA infraction.

Only the Redskins could check out a prospect so "thoroughly"....

I'm not sure if I'm one of the folks you think is "too quick to jump on people" or not. I acknowledged that it was a rumor and stated I was dubious that a father (yes, I know there are bad fathers out there--even a bad father is outraged if his daughter is sexually assaulted) would talk a daughter out of prosecuting for the unclear benefit of a football team. The article did nothing to dispel that notion.

Easily my favorite quote from the article:

“We’re going to follow up a little bit,” Bargen said, “but I don’t anticipate he’s telling us anything but the truth.”
Bargen said Glenn will leave Nebraska on good terms.

Why wouldn't he be telling the truth? Oh sure, he lied before, but now I'm certain that he 's being honest. Why wouldn't he be?

You see, if he was telling the truth the first time, it could end up as NCAA sanctions for nebraska. If he lied the first time, he's just a good kid who made a mistake.

If Glenn did sexually assault someone, why wouldn't he just come out and say it? Historically there isn't a lot of ramifications for that particular offense in the husker program. Which is another reason I don't believe the sexual assault rumor. Didn't he get suspended for three whole games? That sounds way worse than rape by nebraska standards.
 
Hey, how did Bill McCartney work his magic with his daughter's little bundle of surprise?? Maybe NU bought the book?

Just seeing if that was were NU found out how to handle a sex scandal, Bill McCartney's book. Dude knew Sal was the father yet allowed for several players to take a paternity test for whatever reason. The whole glass house thing goes into play. Although I will say this interesting tidbit on Glenn sounds pretty pathetic for all of those who had a hand in it.

Back to 87's point. I don't see any real correlation between covering up legal, albeit embarrassing (for whatever reason) behavior and that which is illegal.

I'm not saying that CU's program doesn't live in a glass house, just that your example is less than apt.
