I'm not saying he's THE answer, but he has hit 18/27 today, so saying he can't hit **** is probably a bit ridiculous... :wow:

He is by far the best alternative we have at this point, for sure.... :huh:
 
bs, hansen should have gotten the early start and by conference time he'd have been prepared... of course, without blocking, no qb is going to win
 
I am sick and tired of Colorado head coach Dan "Hawk" Hansen continuing to play his son Tyler when the kid is dying out there. This nepotism will not stand!
 
Ultimately, it is our offensive line's fault. There is nobody with a chip on their shoulder, except that kid at UCLA. Where's Naeole, Gurode? These guys don't want to take the line of scrimmage. I wasn't a big Grimes guy, but Denver has turned the unit into sissies. Another GOOD guy, that can't coach.
 
The line gave up 9 sacks. Tyler has started, what, 4-5 games? He has a good and reasonably accurate arm. He has wheels. He doesn't have experience. He may not have a great grasp of plays/playcalling. He should have at least 10 starts under his belt, and it would be a different story.

I really hope people don't start turning on Tyler.
 
Well, considering we lost the "easy" non-conference games while Hansen was RSing, I don't see how he could absorb much blame this year. Next year, when Hawk is still at the helm, it will all feel downhill, because he won't get a 6th.
 
I really think Hansen would have benefited from playing games earlier in the season vs weaker competition. He misses easy throws from time to time, but we can't give up on him. He's clearly the best QB we have on the roster at this moment. I'm all for spring to get here and Evans to take his shot, maybe a JUCO to come in and compete (Rodgers) or maybe Hirschmann can make a run at it in fall practice. Either way at this point in time if we don't stick by Tyler then we literally don't have a QB.

That is a great point, Miami. Hansen is going to have to get some support out there to succeed. Especially from the o-linemen.
 
They need to bring in a real nasty asshole to coach the OL. These guys are big, athletic, wtf is the deal?

Also: Givens? What is going on here? The kid isn't hurt but he isn't playing despite the fact that he is clearly one of our 5 best OL. Why not? Why is everything so hush on this extremely weird situation?
 
Hansen's a true sophomore and has time to develop. Good athlete, decent arm, makes some plays, and his decision making is getting better. But he's not good enough to win games on his own, so we've got to give him a running game. Very few QBs are successful when the offense is completely incapable of running the ball.

Nobody here knows how good Hansen is or could be. He gets dumped into a screwed up team in the middle of the season after the coaches kid has been getting 90%+ of the first team repetitions in practice. He gets a game plan based on play action passing for a team that had a hard time getting back to the line of scrimmage on running plays. The D-line of Mizzou had no respect whatsoever for the run and thus they were getting into the pocket about the same time Tyler got there. Add to that a S***head coach who insist on playing guys like Ebner and wonders why we don't have open recievers.

Given the conditions he played under I have no complaints about Hansen. He doesn't exactly look like Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford but with this crappy offense I doubt those two would look much better.
 
Hansen has the athleticism. I can't tel if he has the mind because Albert Einstein could not solve "2+2" with the time Hansen had.
 
Sam Bradford would have looked like **** behind that O-Line.

Tim Tebow would have looked like **** behind that O-Line.

Matt Barkley would have looked like **** behind that O-Line.

Jimmy Clausen would have looked like **** behind that O-Line. Well, he plays for Notre Dame, he's just a giant douche behind any O-Line.
 
I don't care who are QB is. Until our O-line decides to learn how to block and the coaches teach them how to recognize a stunt or a blitz, our QB's will be running for the life all game long.

My only knock on Hansen today, was that he also has to learn to recognize what side a blitz is coming from and be ready to get rid of the ball quickly or take off an run.

In a nutshell, that's it. The OL was terrible once again today. No QB is going to be successful when he gets pressured as soon as he finishes his drop every snap.
 
It sure would help if they'd let him do straight drops instead of keeping the D on their toes with those 3rd and 28 play action dropbacks. Memo to the coaches: nobody bites on a play action when you have run the ball for negative yardage on the day.
