The Mountain West MIGHT implode with BYU leaving and Boise backing out, leaving CSU wandering in the conference wilderness?

nah, they are all trying to convince themselves the big12 is coming for them next. just wait.
I guarantee that some in the Denver media will put the blame for this squarely on CU's shoulders. If we hadn't abandoned our front range brothers (CSU, AFA and WYO) and all of our wonderful traditions we have together (???), then the MWC would still have Utah and BYU with Boise State coming in and a certain BCS bid.

Didn't the Big Ten get it started? Followed by Missouri's mouth? That's when Bohn went into overdrive about finding a solution for CU.
As the resident MWC defender and CSU fan I am here to take my lumps. Although I would caution against reveling in our "demise" too much. With the way realignment has played out so far, I think that all the universities along the front range have been hurt.
I have been on record as supporting CU's move to the PAC-10. I think it was the only move to make given how everything seemed to be shaking out. However, I also believe a consequence of that move was that CU's prestige took a major hit the day they turned in its rivalry with a Top 5 all-time football program in Nebraska for Utah. Additionally, a non-viable conference in the Mountain West region just further dilutes any natural rivalries in this area and consolidates the BCS power regions to the coastal areas, the south, and Texas. I don't think that is good for any "front range brothers" situated along the front range...CU inlcuded.

Now have at me.
CSU just had a stake driven through their heart, and that has to be hard on Rammies.

The SLC papers are reporting Fresno and Nevada have said no to the MWC offers...

I think it is far too early to know for sure. If realignment has taught us anything its that these media outlets are as reliable as chat boards. I find it interesting that the MWC has made a press release stating the invites have been extended late this afternoon. Why even make that announcment if you know the answer? To me that means a decision has not been made.

In another post but, unless I am mistaken, there was some bad feeling when the MWC schools left the WAC, feeling they were superior to the WAC. I'm sure the $5MM buyout and the poetic justice of watching Thompson come to Reno and Fresno with his hat in his hand so he can hear them say no in person will not be lost on the Fresno and UNR AD's.....

If Fresno State and Nevada leave the WAC is done. If that is the case it is the same situation CU fans were hoping for - a dissolved conference with no one to pay the exit fee to.

First, I'd be surprised if Nevada and Fresno left. $$$ and prestige are now on the WAC side. CSU can go anywhere they want, well anywhere where they get an invite, without penalty because the MWC has no penalty to begin with, so I'm not sure how CSU comes out of this looking like anything but a refugee unless the MWC wins the race of the cripples with the WAC.....
fresno will greatly benefit from this. csu fans will applaud this and attempt to throw it in our face when in fact its another team that will kick their ass.
I think you need to find a cute little CSU co-ed to come and give you a hug. Maybe you can let go of some of that hostility.![]()
