I read Ringo's blog (URL provided below) this morning in the BDC, and about fell out of my chair.

No conference distribution from the PAC for 2011 :cry: ...... That's a big hit.

And with a possibility of only 5 home games, Bohn is going to have to be a little more creative than current promotions of 4 tickets, 4 bucks and forget it, to fill Folsom next year.

Joining the PAC and hiring a new HC will help, but how it the AD going to boost season ticket sales for next year and beyond?

It's more than "just the economy stupid".....

With a road game to Hawaii we have a spot (Oct 8th most likely?) to play a 6th home game still, and it will probably happen regardless of the Pac-12 conference scheduling.

If the Buffs host only four conference games and don`t play Cal in a non-conference game, CU would then schedule a fifth home game with a non-Bowl Championship Conference team. If it hosts five conference games, it will also schedule a sixth game against a non-BCS foe

The problem, is of course, who that OOC game would be with. The Big 12 and Big Ten schedules are now all locked up (if any Big 12 teams would accept a game with us).

The only options are from MWC/WAC teams as the loss of Utah and BYU has the MWC schedules in flux.

BYU has two open slots still, I believe, and they already have 6 home games contracted, so they would be the best option to get a "big" home game out of. If not them, then the only programs with openings and worth looking at are Boise State and New Mexico. The Broncos have an opening due to cancelling their series with Utah, but it would disappear if the MWC goes to 9 conference games (most likely).

BYU would get a good TV spot and easily a sellout crowd so those should be the only teams to think about, IMO. We could agree to make the return trip in the future. With the Cougs trying to squeeze as much revenue out of their 2011 schedule as a first-time independent, it might make sense on all sides.

Regardless, missing out on 2011 revenue distribution is going to be a monumental test of Buff fan/alumni resolve.

We are getting a distribution. We just don't know how much. It will probably be like baylors take from the big 12. We are full members, we get a distribution. Nowhere in that article does it say we are not getting s share. Dingo quotes no one. Bad reporting. Sensationalist.

Correct me if I am wrong here:
-they are still floating us the $7mm for the exit fee, we still get a Conf Champ. Game distribution which should be on the order of 1-1.5 million?
-We are picking up 2mm from the OSU game?
-The pac-10 is still under it's old revenue deal so we'd only be looking at 1/12th of 53 million even if we got a full share?
 
Has the Pac 10 (12) been granted a conference championship game for 2011?

I thought the conference had to apply to get a conference championship game.

A 2011 Pac 10 championship game is barely 13 months away. If the process has not started already, it better get going soon.

Agreed the better get moving but there is one reason this is a given, it involves more money and exposure for the NCAA, and as we know the NCAA are greedy ****s.
 
Selling the naming rights to the stadium would help cover whatever loss is apart of this. Smart thing to do (at least in my head) would be to negotiate the best distribution plan from the Pac-12 for 2011, and then finalize the naming rights with someone. Hopefully that is being worked on in the back ground.

****. That.

If they sell naming rights to Folsom Field, it would seriously piss me off. Sell naming rights to a video board, or a weight room or what not. But, if they call it Nutrislim Stadium at Folsom Field or some **** like that, my loyalty and connection to this University and program would take a huge hit.
 
This might be a big deal for the fans because this is the first time it's been reported this way. This is NOT a surprise for the school or a sudden thing. It's been budgeted for, along with other items that might have a specific line in the budget... like a buyout. This is an overblown non-issue for the school and AD.
 
We need to sell the naming rights. An extra million or two a year plus having a corporate partner interested in making stadium enhancements is exactly what we need. Hopefully we find a partner with deep pockets.

Thought so. No way this wasn't discussed extensively as part of the deal with moving in 2011. Plus, with the school funding the AD to the tune of 10 mil ++, the AD budget may even be bigger in 2011 (before a HUGE jump in 2012).

Great, combine those with OSU, and we can have three loses going into conference play. I know it's another thread, but anyone who thinks we're going to be in the top half of that division is crazy given what we're seeing right now.
