Pac-12 to Tedford: Hush! Go stand in corner

California coach Jeff Tedford has been reprimanded by the Pac-12 for criticizing officials after a 36-33 overtime win at Colorado.

No word it Tedford was given a timeout or told to stand in the corner with a dunce cap.

Or write, "I will not say, 'The one on Guyton was a terrible call,' even if it was a terrible call," on the blackboard 100 times.

Tedford was referring to a personal foul penalty on defensive end Trevor Guyton when he tackled Buffaloes running back Rodney Stewart at the end of a pass play. He said that Stewart wasn't ruled down and no whistle had blown. The play extended Colorado's touchdown drive in the third quarter last Saturday.

Said the statement from commissioner Larry Scott:
“The Pac-12 has specific rules that prohibit our coaches from making public comments about officiating, and this prohibition specifically includes comments that create doubts about the credibility of the Conference’s officiating program... The Conference expects each Pac-12 coach to adhere to our standards of conduct and to conduct himself or herself in a manner which will reflect credit on the institution and the Conference.”​
No word on whether Tedford was put on double-secret probation.

It's weird that he would single out that one bad call--there were so many (apparently, I didn't actually see the game, so take it with a grain of salt). Why did he just complain about that one?

Gosh, that is quite the mystery. It must have been the only bad call in the game... :rolling_eyes:

I can't blame him for being critical. It's not as if he didn't escape in a road game in which his team earned significantly fewer yards of total offense against a team that not only didn't turn the ball over, but didn't permit a sack either. It's the sort of victory that puts a man in a mood to complain.
