Who's hot and who's not in the Pac-12?
Here's a random sampling.
Hot: Stanford owns the nation's longest winning streak at 11 games.
Not: Arizona has lost eight consecutive games to FBS foes.
Hot: Young receivers. The top four receivers in the Pac-12 are sophomores: Washington State's Marquess Wilson, California's Keenan Allen, USC's Robert Woods and Colorado's Paul Richardson. Wilson, Allen and Woods rank among the top five in the nation in receiving.
Not: Old coaches. Oregon State's Mike Riley and Arizona's Mike Stoops, with 11 and eight years at their schools, respectively, are two of the three longest-tenured coaches in the Pac-12. They are a combined 1-6. And the third, Jeff Tedford, in his 10th year at California, lost his first game last weekend at Washington.
Hot: Oregon's offensive line. Since struggling against LSU, the Ducks' O-line has surged. It's given up just one sack and the Ducks lead the Pac-12 and rank sixth in the nation with 299.5 yards rushing per game.
Not: Arizona's offensive line. The Wildcats' green unit -- it entered the season with just one start -- has yielded a conference-worst 12 sacks, and the Wildcats rank 114th in the nation in rushing with 62.2 yards per game.
Hot: Punters. Four Pac-12 punters rank among the nation's top 19: Arizona's Kyle Dugandzic (6), California's Bryan Anger (17), UCLA's Jeff Locke (18) and Colorado's Darragh O'Neill (19).
Not: Ball hawks. Stanford and Oregon State don't have an interception this season. Colorado and USC have just one.
Hot: Passing. Five conference teams rank among the nation's top 25 in passing: Washington State (4), Arizona (5), California (22), Arizona State (24) and Colorado (25).
Not: Pass defense. No conference team ranks among the nation's top 25 in pass defense or passing efficiency defense.
Hot: Stanford's run defense. The Cardinal rank No. 1 in the nation against the run, giving up just 36 yards per game with one rushing TD.
Not: Arizona's run defense. The Wildcats rank 114th in the nation against the run, giving up 233.5 yards per game -- 6.23 per carry -- with 11 rushing TDs.
Hot: Desmond Trufant. The Washington cornerback is tied for the conference lead with eight pass breakups and is tied with four others with two interceptions.
Not: Oregon State's red zone defense. In 14 red zone trips, Beavers opponents have scored 12 touchdowns.
