Re: JUCO OG Eric Richter (Committed to Colorado)

The article said he was "naturally strong". Good enough for me.

Re: JUCO OG Eric Richter (Committed to Colorado)

It's official!

Richter faxed in his paperwork and is now a Buff!

Here's the press release:

BOULDER ? The University of Colorado football team signed junior college transfer Eric Richter to a national letter of intent to continue his studies and play football for the Buffaloes, head coach Dan Hawkins announced Wednesday.

Richter, 19, comes to Colorado from Saddleback College where he earned all-state and All-National Division Southern Conference honors as a sophomore in 2009 at Saddleback College under coach Mark McElroy. Saddleback earned a 16-6 record in his two years there, including 9-2 his sophomore season as he started at offensive guard in all 11 games and helped anchor one of the most prolific offenses in school history.

Saddleback led the Southern Conference of the Southern California Football Association in scoring (37.5 points per game), averaging 371 yards of total offense, 142 on the ground and 228.9 through the air. Saddleback did not make the playoffs in 2009 but did host the Western States Bowl and defeated College of the Canyons, 31-20. Saddleback was 7-4 Richter’s freshman season when he saw action in six games. The Gauchos advanced to the SCFA Playoffs, losing in the first round that season.

Richter earned first-team All-South Coast League mention as both a junior and senior at Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo, Calif., in 2006 and ’07, lettering twice under coach Chichi Biehn. He was also named the team’s most valuable player as a senior. He started all 20 games his junior and senior seasons as Capistrano Valley recorded a 5-4-1 mark his senior year and a 5-5 mark his junior campaign.

An accomplished student with a 3.6 grade point average in high school, he earned honor roll mention every semester at Capistrano Valley. He intends to major in sociology at Colorado and is interested in law enforcement as a career after college.

An older sister, Amber, played volleyball at Saddleback and earned the college’s top female student-athlete award during the 2008-09 school year. She is currently playing volleyball at Cal State-Fullerton. His younger sister, Crystal, plans to enroll at Saddleback and play volleyball next year.

His cousin, Ian Kennedy, played baseball at Southern California and was recently traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks from the New York Yankees, where he was the 21st overall selection in the 2006 Major League Baseball draft and made his major league debut on September 1, 2007.

Jeez a guy in law enforcement that benches almost 600 pounds. That's a scary thought for criminals.

Opponents better get ready to respect his "AUTHORI-TAY!"

Welcome to Boulder, Eric!

Re: JUCO OG Eric Richter (Signed with Colorado)

Good deal on the Jan enrollment. Gives him time to work out and learn, and gives us a chance to see what he can do in the spring game/scrimmages.

Re: JUCO OG Eric Richter (Signed with Colorado)

Also has a RS year available, so he's the same class as Givens, MTM and Dannewicz if he uses it. Gives us more guys competing to start next year.

work out? He benches 530 and squats 580 already. You want him to strengthen his kegels?

Re: JUCO OG Eric Richter (Signed with Colorado)

Rivals has evaluated him as a 3* recruit.

Scout has finally evaluated Richter. They've got him as a 2* prospect.
