http://nucfootball.blogspot.com/2010/06/denver-co-11th-grade-nuc-schumans.htmlRiver "King" Thompson had every reason to feel like a million bucks following the combine. The 5'8 147 lb d-back was a menace during the 1 on 1's, pressuring the WR's to the max. He had great recovery speed, can change directions on the dime and plays the ball very well. Thompson was also the best pure athlete during the class of 2011 session, with a 33 inch vertical, 9'8 broad jump, 4.12 shuttle run and 4.62 40. His size will be a concern for some programs, but his skills can't be questioned.
River Thompson
Denver East HS, CO
Thompson was feeling like royalty after winning the Combine King and DB MVP awards. The 5'8 147 lb phenom athlete had a 33 inch vertical, 9'8 broad jump, ran a blazing 4.12 shuttle, 4.61 40 and was in a league of his own during 1 on 1's. Thompson has quick feet, a nice back pedal, good recovery speed and plays the ball well.
Looking for a better photo.
Thompson is a team captain at East and a nice prospect at cornerback and as a return man. 2nd Team All Conference as a junior, Thompson compiled 43 Tackles, 24 Pass break Ups, 2 Int. Teammates with Ezekial Bishop, both shined at the National Underclassmen Combine in Denver on May 30th. Here's the links to River's measurables from that event: http://nationalunderclassmen.com/resultsDenver/jun_rostDen.html
Also, he has a couple videos posted on a profile page at the NUC web site: http://nationalunderclassmen.ning.com/profile/RiverThompson?xg_source=activity
Could be a sleeper prospect from in-state this cycle.
River would be a good walk on if we could get him that way. Otherwise, he's likely to play college in a lower division.
River led the state with 8 interceptions in 2010.
There have been some message board whispers that CU and Tennessee are talking to him.

Pwo?
Preferred Walk On
I had the impression BinVA was asking if people thought this kid would be a PWO, not for its definition.
Never know if he's done growing either.
He'd better not be if he's going to live up to the "Big Thompson" nickname.
On topic though, is there any kind of specific designation (full inclusion in workouts, extra training, use of facilities) for Preferred Walk Ons or is that just a coaches designation to give to players who they expect to be able to earn a roster spot without much difficulty?
 Give me some credit man. I've been here a little while. Sheesh:lol:Preferred Walk On
but not the food court.A preferred (or "invited") walk on is recruited by the coaching staff and has one of the 105 roster spots reserved for him in fall camp. Other walk ons may have to wait until the rosters have expanded before they are able to join the team.
Once guys are on the team, they all get full access to training and facilities.
but not the food court.
They changed that rule.
