'12 NJ CB Yuri Wright (Signed to Colorado)

One other thing that isn't getting the attention it deserves is that with guys like Gerald Thomas, Yuri Wright, Kenneth Crawley, Marques Mosley, John Walker and Donta Abron coming in we have made a monumental upgrade to our special teams.
This cannot be said enough. They all have speed. Even if they don't start they could make a huge impact.
I would love to see some speed in the return game. It was very clear no one liked P-Rich getting tackled in the open field last year, himself included.

did you read the article? pure ****

I'm not certain what you are saying here. The article is not true?? Do you have info the kid was NOT kicked out of school? Or that Michigan stopped recruiting him?

I went to both CU and Notre Dame so I was watching this kid. The information on him is not flattering. I concede it was a Catholic school he was expelled from but still I think colleges must be very careful to get solid kids. The pros can gamble because of the money. But there are just too many Terrell Pryors out there who might cause some damage to a college football program. I am not saying this recruit will or will not do this, only that these things need to be considered.

I feel so bad for Yuri in all this.

This is the flip side of the way things have changed with recruiting coverage. We create a couple hundred celebrities every year and some media outlets are going to also blur that line of remembering we're talking about high school kids that need to be cut some slack. I realize it's not ESPN's mission to provide mentorship for teenagers entering the adult world, but if they're going to insinuate themselves this much into college sports and recruiting they need to learn to respect the dynamic of this sport.

+1

Some Rutgers fan went on Yuri's Facebook as said "GS only takes high character guys". I mean, seriously? Very uncalled for.

Uncalled for, but not terribly surprising. As the whole twitter thing started to hit, you had to know that spurned schools were going to resort to a false sense of outrage and morality. Several ND fans suggesting that they also pulled his scholarship offer in light of the controversy.

The funny thing is they just copied the same text from the story that they had last week on their home page. All they did was add the line that he committed to us.

As I said before, as long as this is the last controversy that comes out of him, this will mean nothing in a few weeks. If he gets caught doing anything remotely negative the national press will run with it.

At this point, all we can do is cheer him on and trust in the coaches since other than Yuri, they are the ones on the hook for him good or bad. I just hope Embree sat him down and give him the facts of life so he can get on track helping this team win and prep for the NFL.

Don't care about Twittergate. It was total crap. Love having Yuri on the squad. He will look great in the Black and Gold

Which is bull**** because if that was true then they likely would have kicked Floyd off the team. Just sour grapes.

Who knows? Maybe they did. But in the end Yuri has plenty of opportunity to make up for this, umm, youthful indiscretion (or at least not repeat it) and judging by the quotes from Toal at Don Bosco, those who know him assume he will.

I am sorry let me clarify. The article was a crappy piece of journalisim. Yes it got the facts right (sorry to have pissed you off so badly). However it was a poorly written article. The lead was biased. The content was scattered and did not come to any coherent point. It made no mention of the buffs (the school he committed to) instead it talked about how other schools had either stopped recruiting him or had called to "see if his head was on straight". I did not go to the J school but it seems like the article was ****.

does that help kal?

Twittergate is an error a high school kid can learn and grow from. He did not commit a crime or harm anyone. He will learn from this, along with the rest of the CU program.

I am happy to have a guy of Yuri's talent commit to the Buff's, and I look forward to watching him play on Saturday's!!!

Had he committed to Texas ESPN would have made it the main headline on their frontpage:

"Greatest CB prospect of this season commits to Texas, please, please, pleeeeeeeeeaase convince your cable carrier to pick up the Longhorn network so you can watch him."

Just read some of the tweets for which the kids was expelled. Shocked - I can't believe a 17 year old would ever say "I want p#####"

/sarcasm.

Welcome aboard, Yuri! I'm sure you're a good kid & will enjoy your time in Boulder~
