YesWait. There's like a cooler mode, and I'm doing it wrong?
I think it’s a case of a guy trying to work on too many variables at once. Kountz needs to improve his 3pt jumper, his ball handling, perimeter defense and his passing. Evolving game with the raw tools to get where he needs to be - it will be fun to see what he can become once we start seeing him come out the other end of this process.Kountz getting back to form will be key in conference play. I think it's a classic example of a kid trying to get his confidence back.
Really great win. Couldn’t watch so for those who did, what was the difference for Kin? Sounds like he was more aggressive and that set the tone, which took some of the offensive pressure off others?
Played a team he decommitted from in a hostile arena that booed him from warm-ups to the final buzzer. Of course that woke the tiger. Kin’s competitive juices got a much needed charge.
Trent Beckley enjoyed it (NSFW language)
I thought it was over when he cramped up. But he came back and gave us even more. He has the heart of a buffalo“Fight with me!”
“Match my intensity!”
Battey had an unbelievable 9 offensive rebounds while pushing and challenging his teammates.
He’s on track to enter Spencer/Chauncey territory as my favorite all-time player at CU.
We are better than Dayton right now - and we’re still not firing on all cylinders.
Good signs with Gatling’s ball handling and decision making. Kountz showing some signs of life. Once we get consistent play from the”2”, this team gets good enough to give anyone a challenge while being favored against 95% of D1.
We’re close.
Just gotta avoid an emotional letdown and take care of a dangerous Iona squad next week. I think the time off with genuine practice time is coming at a perfect time.
347 teams in D1. 95% means that there are around 17 teams we probably wouldn't be favored against if this team finds consistent production from the "2", but that we'd be a dangerous out for those 17ish teams. I don't think that's a controversial opinion.

Tourney team last year. Good hoops program. It's so hard to get good competition to visit during the holidays and it's great to see that Tad was able to bring in an opponent with a pulse on 12/29 ahead of conference play."Dangerous Iona Squad". Just confused by this.
They’ve been to the tourney the last 4 years and they’ve got a few seniors with a lot of experience, two of which are guards. EJ Crawford will give us trouble."Dangerous Iona Squad". Just confused by this.
Great play. Schwartz had a big three before that one too. What’s crazy to me is that: let’s say we get the stop at the end and don’t need the buzzer beater 3 to win. Hit FTs and it ends in less dramatic fashion with Dayton clanking their lost shot. The shot of the game to me, or at least OT, is Schwartz taking Toppin off the dribble and finishing at the rim between Toppin and the help defender. That was an NBA drive and finish around a guy who will be drafted higher than anyone we will play all season.
I'll **** a brick if we beat Oregon on the second. After this game, I actually think it's possible.
So basically he needs to work on what, 90% of his game?I think it’s a case of a guy trying to work on too many variables at once. He's got skills as a scorer in the open court that you can't teach. Tad's system depends on guys like that to get buckets. Kountz could be another Carlon type scoring option with Iso plays as he grows up. But that other stuff could make him so much more than that.So basically he needs to work on what, 90% of his game?
Dominique plays south of Castle Rock....those games/players don't even exist in Denver Media.........Just like anything on the Western Slope!Kin was the key, the engine that makes us go. Hopefully he is back on track to what we have seen in the past. Another positive note is Luke O'Brien who has scored 31 and 38 the last 2 games, with 5 and 4 three pointers. I cant find anything on Dominque Clifford's season.
I have hard time believing that. He doesn't have the shooting touch Carlon has. He's got skills as a scorer in the open court that you can't teach. I think you’ve got selective memory limited to the Pac-12 tourney MVP run. Other than that, Carlon was carrying around a bricklayers union card. Scorer, not a shooter.I have hard time believing that. He doesn't have the shooting touch Carlon has.

Agreed. Willing to give the kid another year to show what he’s got, but just like with sooooo many of Tad’s guard recruits in the last 5 years, you see occasional glimpses of the potential to be a solid contributor but mostly long stretches of basically nothing.Maybe I'm only remembering his highlights. But in my mind, CB is way better in terms of athleticism, strength, outside shooting, post play and ball handling. Ya, pretty much everything.
Whenever Kountz is dribbling, I'm worrying about TO, every single time. It's that bad IMO.
