At the time, I remember thinking it can only be because he was assumed to be a track guy in college and was taken off the boards of other programs that recruit AZ. Otherwise it really doesn't make sense for an athlete of this level.

I think it has more to do with the fact that ASU and UA don't know defense. When you can't pull in state offers, you must be damaged goods.... Thank God our coaches do their own evaluations and loved this kid. He is the full package.

From 1 other offer of New Mexico to what looks like maybe the best CB in College Football.

Didn't say it then, but when I watched his film, I was very underwhelmed. He didn't look explosive or quick twitch at all. Thought he a below average athlete for a WR. I really have a problem gauging top end speed on film, so I added .1 second to his 40, and assumed he was a 4.65 guy or something. Oh well, I'm just gonna assume our DB recruits are top notch from here on out.

I loved him. I was just holding back because I wasn't sure if he'd break my heart by choosing track over football.

Have a buddy who is a huge ASU guy. He told me at the time that we signed Oliver that ASU screwed up big time for not getting him.
