I'm from Colorado and I went to CU but I doubt I would want to go to CU if I grew up in Boulder. It would be nice to get atleast a car ride away from the parents for college lol.
My son is a junior in high school and doesn't want to go to CU or Mines due to the proximity to home.
More like A slap fight.
Don't get your hopes up, based on a recent update, he sounds intent on going OOS.
Perish the thought...
Are we going to be able to keep him?

We never had him..
I meant keep him in state.
The answer is the same.
It'll take a minor miracle to keep this kid, I'm afraid. Unfortunate. I wish he could see the benefit of staying, but Fairview kids are notorious for skipping town. I'll never understand that.
I completely understand wanting to leave Boulder. Especially when a team with the tradition and prestige of UM comes calling. I just hope JL can give him something to think about.
People talk about this kind of thing and my immediate thought is "Chauncey Billups". There's a guy who literally could have gone anywhere he wanted. Kansas, North Carolina, Duke, Indiana, Kentucky - he could have gone to any of them. He stayed home and is now a member of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame. Ever heard of a guy named Chucky Sprolling? He was Chauncy Billups before Chauncey Billups was around. Sprolling went to St. Johns to play hoops and nobody ever heard of him again.
I'm venting, but this kind of stuff annoys the bejesus out of me. Kemp is a linebacker who could come to CU and be coached by one of the best linebacker coaches in the country and all we keep hearing is how much he supposedly wants to leave the state. Maddening.
I hear ya, Sacky, and I agree as a selfish fan. We live in a different time of CU athletics than when Chauncey came to CU, though, and kids have different mindsets, motivations, goals, dreams, etc. To Kemp, CU is a program that draws ~50k (generous) fans per game and seemingly trades wins vs CSU every other year, loses to Sac State, Montana State, goes winless in P12 play and has become irrelevant on the national landscape. It's maddening because you and I remember winning football in Boulder and how awesome it can be, and we just don't understand how any in state kid doesn't share the same passion for CU.
Not really. He made it pretty clear that he wasn't too interested in CSU and wouldn't be because of the conference affiliation.I don't mind the desire to get out of town, but one of his last updates gave me the impression that he was grouping CU with CSU together like they're both in the in the Mountain West, in that they just aren't big enough programs. That's depressing.
"That's kind of hard, because they had a very good season last year and I expect them to do well again," Kemp said. "It's just, for me, playing in the Mountain West Conference is not something I want to do. I want to go out there and play in one of the Power Fives now. That way I can really go out there and prove myself, coming from Colorado, where typically we don't really get a lot of respect. I want to prove that I can play with anyone from everywhere."
