Whenever I think of “country strong,” I think of a dude I signed out on a car deal who was a Kansas farmer. He was easily 6’5” to 6’6” and weighed 315 to 325 lbs. He was not fat. No human being had ever shaken my hand so hard with so little effort. He was just naturally strong with massive hands. At that same store, numerous Broncos and Avs players bought vehicles from us. Big guys. His handshake was the firmest by a wide margin.
Maybe best example was Karl Mecklenburg of the Broncos a couple decades ago. He came in as a late round draft choice. He had been very effective at Minnesota but teams passed on him because he was underweight and his weight room numbers weren't very good. To look at him in street clothes very few people would have identified him and an NFL front seven player.
Turned out that on the field he was amazingly strong. He could throw blockers around and when he got hands on a ballcarrier they went down. He ended up playing over a decade and played all front seven positions from NT to OLB
