1st AP Poll of 2017 Season is out

Fair.

The team I think is most overranked (aside from Georgia) is Michigan. That team is not the 11th best team in the country.
Michigan is going to start out pretty shaky with all that turn over, but it I think there is a pretty good chance they're still undefeated when they play Penn St on Oct 21st.

Schedule is definitely back-loaded, first game will be interesting.

ND and Texas #'s 1 and 2, shortly followed by Nebraska at #7 as the most overated.

Justice is served.
ND is ridiculous in how much they're overrated. The methodology 538 used was to take team's last 30 years 1st poll ranking and compare it to their final poll ranking. (They also continued the rankings past 25 and counted them through all receiving votes.)

If you think about it, a team whose average initial poll is in the top 10 has a lot more room to move down than they do to move up. So a team that starts ranked around, say 25, can move up a lot, which would help their average.

ND's average starting rank has been #25. But they've still managed to move down by an average of 7 spots every season.

More than that, what annoys the hell out of me is how certain programs like ND or UT can start the season ranked around 25 or unranked... and then 1 frikin win vaults them into the Top 15 of the next ranking.
