So he's going to play DE or what? Nevermind, I hadn't watched his clip. Welcome Mr. Coates.

He’s a mid year guy I think so he’ll be here for winter, Spring and Summer workouts. He won’t get to 300 but I don’t think it’s out of question to think he can put on 20 lbs in a much better S&C program and possibly be a contributor at some point in 2020. Then again, maybe the coaches would rather have him spend a full year and a half in the program before seeing the field. More of a long game approachHe measured in at 6'6" 263 lbs. He is not carrying any fat. He'll have to drink thru a fire hose in order to contribute in 2020, but I'll take that over undersized or unathletic.
I noticed that 247 has him with offers from New Mexico, Akron and a handful of other G5 types. Some validation for a kid who has yet to settle on a position.

Solid offers coming in for Coates late. Surprised that he didn’t get noticed earlier given the JUCO he plays at.
These were some of the things I said at the beginning of this thread when we offered...I commented that he looked like a total freak of an athlete on film. I was told that this is one of the most highly recruited JUCOs in the country, and if he was that athletic he wouldn’t have been passed over by legit programs. He played TE in high school and at his first JuCo.
He is just now transitioning to defense in this season, so I think it's quite natural that it would take a half-season before P5 offers come in.
When we offered, it had to be a big projection.
It's less so today, but still a bit of a gamble (no matter how visible his Juco is). The guy is raw.
This is a results oriented businessHey, jeffcoat never got offer validation for his DL recruits, so at least Brumbaugh is a step in the right direction.
