I think Krakatoa was a 5* that may have dropped to 4*.

When Favre was NFL MVP and downing pain pills by the dozen, the Packers fans adopted this saying "It is not wise to throw stones at crack houses..." lol. Huge get.

Truth. However, he’s supposed to enroll in January. The window for something to go wrong is pretty small.
 
Awesome news. Duff Man here is your 5* recruit, and CU has plenty of young 3* guys with experience behind him, so we have depth should he get hurt or it not pan out. I think he has a good shot at a hardship waiver from the NCAA, but I do think the PAC-12 gets to weigh in. Larry Scott probably wants the talent in the conference.

I don't think Bama is going to object, since it appears Saban may have directed him here. I think although Saban was harsh in his public words, but he re-evaluated and ultimately did what was best for the player (Saban is close to MT) and his team (i.e. he is not in their conference). The only team who could object would be Texas A&M since they were on Bama's schedule and played week 5 or 6. Doubtful they will since the game was played well after he departed and Bama would not have been going over aTm's game film, however CU does play them the next 2 years.

On eligibility, I think we just have to wait. The stricter rule on hardships had something like a 100 mile from home for family hardship restriction. This is a unique situation, since AA wants to get on with his life far away from home; which appears to be the best option under the circumstances. Both the NCAA and Pac12 are unpredictable, to say the least. If they don't grant a waiever, technically he could re-transfer back into the SEC, which nobody down south would be happy with, except the team that nabbed him. I don't think the B1G would want him at Rutgers, although that is not a good team. Not sure of the other schools within 100 miles of NJ.

Given his situation, I think we have to temper or be patient with our expectations given the hardship situation. I don't think this is a Darrell Scott or Ford situation, where he acted entitled or just could not figure out where he wanted to go to school. Rather, he is going through a lot emotionally and academics plays a part. Good for the Buffs!! We needed this.
 
Maybe already discussed. How telling is it that he followed an academic advisor? One story is that he wants/needs to connect to something larger than a football program. It may bolster the argument that he is looking for stability in a painful time. Not sure how the NCAA views that, but whether he’s immediately eligible or not, I hope he finds what he’s looking for.

I said this in Barzil, it looks like she was an advisor for the Engineering dept at Bama. I wonder if he is planning on being an engineering major. If so, that connects a lot of dots

I think a room of Alfano, Johnson, Lang, Sami, Rodman, Berry, Harris, Coates, Murray, Williams and Jackson would make the pretty good depth statement true. That would be a RIDICULOUS turn around from where we were at the end of MMs tenure.

Nice turnaround and true depth (like legitimately top half of the conference depth) are two different things. But no need to hash this out here. It will go nowhere.

I'm not surprised that you disagree. More quality DL recruits is always a goal, as you can never have too many. Did you watch the Ore-USC game, where Oregon blew their doors off?? Slovis and the SC offense was playing out of their mind in the 1st quarter, but watching the amount of havoc Oregon was getting rushing 3 or 4, you could tell it was just a matter of time before the dam broke. The interceptions were predictable with the number of guys dropping into zone & man coverages and Slovis under that much pressure.

I hope this signing brings a ton of recruting momentum. Even presuming Landman returns, CU needs some great LBs (OLB's) and a safety recruit. I'm not sure if Guy Thomas will play ILB or OLB or even Star, if he can play OLB/Star well then at is real good. If they get another Star, Perry may fill that safety position. I think the DB's will be fine with Bethal, the injured returning, and the experience from the young guys, but you can never have enough good recruits in the secondary either.

For the offense, it will be interesting to see how QB shakes out. I doubt our QB is on the roster, it may be Lewis and another Dual Threat, or Lewis and Stenstrom as a back-up + a transfer that will sit a year. I hope we get to see Stenstrom some over the next 3 games. For a grad transfer, that probably will not shake out until after Spring Ball, as I don't think the big names will enter the portal until then. But who knows?

Presuming Phillip returns and is bigger/improved, he should fill the tackle spot. Purcell should plug back in at center. We do need some guards, perhaps those are on the roster. True freshman recruits starting on the OLine is rare, but ASU has done it this year and so have a few other PAC12 teams.
