Buffaholic got a lot of flack when he suggested Ryan Miller would move to OG last year. I thought it was a bad idea. But looking at the progress of Bryce Givens has made, the move kind of makes sense. I’ve been really high on Givens since he first came on campus. If he can stay healthy he will be a dominate force at RT for some time to come. I just didn’t expect him to replace Ryan so soon. LG Nate Solder seems like the only OL not to make a position move over the spring. He had a rough sophomore year, but hopefully the experience will make the difference. He certainly looks the part. Sione Tau looks like he’s taken care of business in the classroom, which is great for depth. I just don’t see this kid making it on the field in front of the guys we have. No disrespect to Sione, but we just have better options imo. The coaches have been giving Sione looks at OG over the spring. But I don’t expect to see him there if MTM can make it back in time. I’m not too sure about Ryan Dannewitz. He’s gained a lot of weight over the year, but I just haven’t seen too much of him while I was at practice.
I really like addition of Jack Harris. The kid is one bad dude:lol: I like the fact that we don’t have to rush our kids into the fire immediately when they get here. I think he will develop into a great OT.
I think we should always grab a couple OT’s every cycle. We are really young at OT, but we have some good experience here. But I’m greedy with tackles. The coaching staff’s focus should be at OG for ’10.

Even though this looks like our most experienced unit, we still have some very big question marks out there. The lone senior from the OL this year is Devin Head. Who did a respectable job last season considering the circumstances. He’s a tough kid but I think he’s keeping MTM’s spot warm, Especially with Ryan Miller making the move to RG. Ryan should be a force no matter where he is put on the OL. The kid is the leader of the OL and has a great head on his shoulders. Another good thing – He’s only a Sophomore!!! Max Tuioti-Mariner is also a question mark because of injuries. It’s hard to imagine him coming back from 3 ACL tears within 3 years. But the kid did play really well last season. He graded out to 78% for the WVU game. Adkins, Behrens, and Daniels all have seen significant PT last year. I just would like to see one of them really step up and push Devin Head. My bet is on Behrens (who was injured for all of Spring Ball), but Adkins could certainly step up imo. The coaches have been messing around with Sione Tau at OG this spring. So don’t be surprised to see him there during the fall.
Colorado pulled in two guards this last cycle, but I heard they might place Gus Handler at center. Nothing official but I think he’ll stay there. That move makes sense imo. There has been a lot of positive talk about David Bakhtiari during spring ball. But he looks like a project player. Like I said before, It’s nice to have the depth to throw a RS on these guys so they can develop.
We are losing Devin Head next year so I think we should look at bringing in at least two kids minimum at guard. I’d like three but can do with two solid guards this class. A lot hinges on the progress of MTM. If he goes down for good, we should consider going after a JUCO kid.

I like the move with Iltis to center. He looks like the vocal guy you need at the position. Things may be a bit rough to start off, but I think he’ll be a great center for CU. We also have Justin Drescher coming back at LS. He’s been automatic for us there. I hope we have a replacement on the roster lined up.
I know it seems like a little much to bring in two kids at center in one class, but I’ve heard some rumbling about Handler making the move to center. I’ve also heard they might make Shaun Simon a DT, even though he denies that. So we have some uncertainty at this position. But if everything goes as planned, we can have enough time to groom Handler to take over for Iltis. I also know they can move Blake Behrens here in case of any injury. I’ve seen him getting some reps at center, but I think they are going to keep him at guard for now. We always have Keenan Stevens, and Evan Eastburn here as well.
I don’t think we should bring in any centers this year. If a big time recruit happens to fall in our lap then sure, but I don’t see us taking anyone here this year.
