Obviously the RB position is one of the strengths of the team this year. We have some solid play makers that will help us big time next year. Darrell Scott should be at the top of this list by the first game, with Rodney Stewart not far behind. This should be a great one two punch for CU. Brian Lockridge is coming off a injury ([FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]sports hernia)[/FONT] that kept him out last year, but most of us remember the type of playmaker he was. Hopefully he hasn't lost a step. Kevin Moyd is a bit of an unknown to me while he's been here at CU. The kid seems to have all the tools to be a great RB here in Boulder, but he just doesn't see any PT durning the season. It's hard to really say if he's going to make any kind of impact this season. I hope he does.

I would like to see Colorado go after another 2 RB this cycle. By not pulling any RB's during last years cycle puts this years class as a big priority.

Moyd and Nabors were both listed at WR in the spring roster.

Once Mister Jones gets his test scores up he'll be a Buff. Still need another RB, with that dreaded gap in the depth chart

I'm all for getting additional RBs this cycle but when we say "no RBs last year" I hope we don't forget that Quentin Hildreth decided to walk on. I've seen him play and he is something special.

He didn't get his recruitment going on the fast track and may have waited too long to send out tapes, so it's easy to discount a kid for not being scholarship, but I am predicting he WILL be a very strong contributor.

He was at the spring game and attended quite a few practices, too.

I would actually like to see three RBs in this class.

One blue chip player, one sleeper type like Speedy and I'd be perfectly satisfied. You can only have one (maybe two) RB's on the field at a time. Not enough touches to keep 6-7 players happy and focused. Ideally, we'd always have 2 bluechip guys and four role players in that position. If CU lands Ameen Moore in 2011, we'll have talent to burn at the position.

High school kids. I figure you take a feature back, an all-purpose/slasher back, and possibly a guy you can mold into a fullback.

I'm not forgetting about Hildreth. I'm just addressing our scholarship players for now.

... Ok. I have to be honest.. I like scott as a kid. And his work ethic seems great.. But i think he should be competing with sumler for 3rd string right now.
Starter--Stewart--- He is a gamebreaker , hands down. He makes the line look better.
2nd --Lockridge-- has good size and hits holes fast. Also has decent vision
3rd--Sumler--- Much improved. Working Very hard. Just does not have the speed
3rd... or 4rth.... Scott. Great kid. Lots of heart. But has to learn to play tenaciously. To hesitant, mediocre vision. Can run down hill, but without a bruising line could not do so. Could develop but right now is not the starter..
I understand though that it would be a huge huge blow to the program if scott left or never preformed here... hawk would never live down losing a 5star but honestly i don't think he is good enough to start this year.

So you're saying he doesn't have the explosion off the line like stewart? Then maybe someone needs to light a fire under him. He's been here long enough, i'm sure he knows he needs to hit the hole with authority and I'll give him another year or two before putting him at 4th string. But hey, maybe he isn't a 5 star who knows,i'm willing to give him some more time.

I do not agree with this assessment. Scott was the best looking RB at the Spring Game.

I'm curious if you were at the spring game? Because Scott looked WAY better than he did all last fall.
 
I thought all 4 looked good and will get playing time this year. Scott is obviously way improved, and I think he and Speedy will get the most carries. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding, and playing time will obviously be determined by performance. At this point, though, I'd favor Scott and Speedy as equal, with Sumler next and Lockridge getting some RB time but also on the field at the same time as the other RBs. We've already seen changes on the OL to get the best players on the field.

I only watched the spring game on the CU Buffs.com (and they cut off most of the 4th quarter), and while Scott did look better, it seemed to me like he still had some problems hitting the hole when it was there. He'd hesitate and shuffle his feet a bit before going for it at times. Hopefully our oline is vastly improved this year, but if it's anything like last year, you need to get to the hole ASAP cause it's gunna close fast.

The above said, I'm not thinking that Scott should be relegated to a 4th string backup. The guy is huge, fast, and has hands. He needs to be on the field.

I think we'll be okay. The OOC games should ease us into the conference schedule. If we're not clicking by game four, I will be concerned.
 
The season depends on improved OL play. Without that, the 3 and outs will end up kicking the defense's asses, too.

The first team looked solid. 300+ yards on the ground is solid. The second team though, yeah, not so much. That's ok though.
 
I think they need to invest in a true fullback this year. It takes time to develop someone who's used to getting all the carries/being the bmoc, into a smashmouth type. Behrens is a senior, and then there's, who?.........

1-2 RB's and 1 FB this cycle.

James McConico. But he won't give a verbal until late in the season.

If not him, I say we don't get another one for 2010 and our next commit is Adonis in the 2011 class.
