2017-2018 Bowl Season

Halftime show. Got to say, it's nice to see that poetry jams are so popular these days. Also liked it when Henry Rollins did it and they called it punk rock.

I do wish that rock music would become a thing again, though. I miss it.

Just to get this straight, but what I am seeing is Kendrick Lamar performing at HT of a college championship game? They're paying Kendrick Lemar to perform at HT of a game contested by unpaid "student" athletes?

I sat on my couch, he walked out, he started, I walked away. First and last time seeing and hearing from mr. Lamar.

Metallica and avenged sevenfold would be good choices for a gig like this.

Rock is dead, it's all about solo artist, 50 producers and writers, 100 dancers on stage. I know, I'm the " Music isn't as good as it used to be" guy but you know...

Anyone remember the Circus halftime show at the Orange Bowl? Elephants and a grass/sand field. excellent idea.

you can't showcase elephants and such anymore-- that's the big reason that ringling bros and barnum/bailey finally went out of business after a 100+ years. ... which kinda pisses me off, because i didn't get one of my bucket-lists: having intimate relations with a east european trapeze artist and/or contortionist on the circus train, while she softly sings hank williams tunes to me.

I thought it was solid.
Yeah. It seemed pretty good for that style of music and that style of music is crazy popular right now. Not my thing, but I can appreciate it and I also get that it's smart to appeal to a younger demographic with a halftime show (they've already got me as a viewer for life). NFL makes the mistake of putting senior citizens like Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones on stage.

Kendrick is awesome but live hip hop performances are never really that good IMO. Then you put then in a stadium not built for concerts and it’s even worse.

They should’ve had sky divers and a fly over.

I read an article the other day that said hip-hop was the only musical outlet for a young man's anger in this day and age, and that it was going to be a problem that there wasn't an appropriate outlet (like rock)

Georgia asked Green Bay for permission to brand their helmets with the "Power G", it has been the same shape and style since it began being worn. Green Bay had a different "Power G" at first, but when they updated their logo, they closely matched what Georgia had done.

Cool. The tradition isn’t as old as I thought. Packers first in 1961. Bulldogs follow 3 years later.

What's the origin of the Packers' 'G' logo?
The Packers have utilized a few different 'official' logos over the years, but only one, the current trademark 'G' logo, ever made it to the helmet. The year was 1961, Vince Lombardi's third as head coach. The logo was designed by Packers equipment manager Dad Braisher.
I see that the University of Georgia uses a similar 'G' logo. Who used the logo first?
The Packers 'G' logo was invented by Dad Braisher specifically for the Packers in 1961. Georgia began using a similar looking logo in 1964. According to Georgia's official website, head coach Vince Dooley "had been impressed with the look of the helmet worn by the Green Bay Packers, which featured the oval 'G' but in a different color scheme. Dooley settled on the black oval 'G' surrounded by a white oval background resting on each side of the bright red helmet. A white stripe was placed over the top." In 1996, Georgia then added a smaller black stripe inside the white stripe.
